Does anyone have this alarm? It is the one that honks when you lock and unlock the truck. I have it and was just curious who else does.

I have that alarm, but I disabled the annoying horn blow & just have the parking lights flash. The horn has a series of # of sound offs when you unlock to let you know the vehicle has had an alarm. In the pic you can see the red light-button to the right of the switches. It flashes when the alarm is armed.

I got it. They placed it in one of the blank button slots.

Not a bad alarm I guess, for stock anyhow.

Beeper is the same stock beeper.

I have this one also. The red light is a button that you can push to turn the alarm on and off.

+1 mine is also in one of the blank slots. From what I've found the alarm is made by Audiovox, Prestige models. I downloaded a manual of one of their alarms with a similar remote as mine and everything works like the manual (disabling/enabling horn chirp etc etc)

The manual states that pushing the red button is for disabling/enabling valet mode.

Wow didn't know it cost that much, I got mine luckily for free I wasn't expecting an alarm since my truck is a base 5-lugger, I was surprised to see the alarm when the truck got delivered.

Im guessing, but I think most Toyotas here in PR come with an alarm just like that. At least i've seen it in a lot of Toyotas in here.

I'm glad that we at least get that then, we already pay $2K more than what a Tacoma costs in the states.

K, I been standing on my head under the dash on the drivers side of my 2000 Tacoma Pre-Runner, after fighting with my alarm. My battery has been disconnected for the last 3 months, and now I'm trying to get things going again. I can not reset or disarm with the key fobs, the originals, with good batteries in them (I got a 5 pack of the little 12 volt batteries for them). I can disarm by turning the key to on (not start) and pushing the red button on the dash a couple of times, but if I open and shut the door,(nothing else) the red light on the dash blinks real fast for about thirty seconds, then the horn beeps once, the lights flash, and the alarm is armed again, and the only way to disarm it it to do the key to on/red light button thing again. Key fobs do nothing.
I want the alarm GONE, or working right. This truck will be having the battery disconnected and reconnected a lot in the next several months. I followed the wire from the sensitivity box to another box that says "Main Module" and "Part # 00014-S0200" on it. It has a fairly big molex type connector also on it. Is that the alarm? Does anybody know what's wrong? Does anybody know how I can make my alarm inop completely? I don't care if I have to lock and unlock the door with keys/hands. Please help Tacoma alarm experts out there.

Anyone have input on this alarm issue? I have the little red button too. Alarm goes off every time I get out of my truck, and when I first start it the button is flashing and blinker noise as well. HELP!

I highly recommend posting a picture of the alarm's remote control whenever asking for help with an alarm otherwise it's near impossible to help. There are far too many different alarms available out there to diagnose without knowing at least the brand of the alarm.

A lot of car alarms out there program their remote controls by using the ignition key switch, the door switch, valet and/or programming switch, etc. Certain things need to happen within a certain amount of time and it all varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and sometimes it even varies model to model of the alarm itself.

If the alarm in question is programmable for the remote control and if the vehicles battery has been disconnected for a long period of time the alarms remote control(s) will need to be reprogrammed to the alarm control unit.

If an alarm sounds off when a door is shut it usually, but not always, means the alarms main input power has been lost (ie: blown fuse). Power backfeeds through the alarms door input circuit and powers up the alarm and whenever a alarm is first powered up they always sound off.
