About to swap my carpet interior for the all weather factory flooring. Pulled the carpet and I noticed that my cab has flooring material. I was planning on installing some kilmat tiles over this but didnt know if this is factory installed :

The tiles look OEM. However looks like someone did after market black spray on, it was not in my truck.

That is oem anti vibration mat. As you can see on my white truck they used a more gray color version of it.

is it anti-vibration or sound deadening?
I heard certain street cars come with it, and that if owner's remove it (to reduce weight) to build a track car, that the stuff is a real bitch to get off

Good to know thanks. Feels hard to the touch, thought it was aftermarket.

I am calling it anti vibration only because when reading a thread from someone who knows infinitely more about sound deadening than me it said not to place your anti vib tiles over that material as it would be a waste because they accomplish the same thing. I suppose it can be considered sound deadening either way. If it’s hard to remove I believe they said try a heat gun and scraping it out, or possibly try dry ice to freeze it and a rubber mallet to shatter it

The OEM sure has the same density and look of the kilmat sound deadening tile. Just for kicks, I pulled off the home depot frost king duct wrap off my garage portable ac unit. I can see why many that went the frugal route chose the frost king. Very similar in build. I might try frost king wrap for the doors and back at a later date.

It's likely Oem sound deadening but irregardless, I went ahead and place some kilmat on most of the surface area to be safe. I know to do it right would include MLV and CCF layers but I wanted cheap and fast with very little truck downtime. It took me 4 hrs to complete the new floor swap and about to install seats and be done. I have enough tiles left to tackle the back cab wall some other day.

Nice work! When did you get that flooring? I just bought mine a week or two ago and got it all installed. I deadened the back wall, floor, and all the doors. It made a decent difference but I feel it could still be better. Be careful when doing the back wall, I broke a bunch of clips trying to get stuff back together and MAY have stripped a few bolts putting the seats/seatbelt bolts back in :anonymous:

    Nice work OP.

Sound deadening or anti-vibration both are really the same from an engineering standpoint. Measuring frequencies any way you look at it. Solution for both is adding mass to whatever you are trying to “calm down”.

I just finished drilling and tapping and put helicoils in the passenger side seat hinges after crossing them during my subwoofer install. Worked out nice, but cost me an afternoon and about $70 in materials.

Those bolts were such a pain in the ass. The worst part is eventually when I get leather seats I know they are gonna have to come out again, so I am not looking forward to that at all. May remove some material when I do that so they will hopefully fit in easier.

I went the cheap route and ordered the 80mil kilmat from eBay for $60 3 weeks ago. Just wasn't looking forward to the install but wasn't that bad. The worst part of the install was reusing the plastic clips of side seatbelts pillars. Took some careful use of a plastic putty knife and screwdriver.

Trdparts..com but you can order from local dealer if they price match to avoid shipping costs. It was originally free shipping but it was ended up being shipped from another out of state dealership due to being out of stock. Ended up paying an extra $35 for shipping. Quite pleased with the results. Odor free now and road noise better with the kilmat. Doing the back wall made the most noticeable difference.
