The scuba part or the welding part. Agree on the scuba, but the welding is Uber safe underwater, I dunno how they keep the impurities out though

My daughter worked 3 jobs and put herself through community college and through SDSU. She got one small scholarship, didn't pay rent because she lived at home, and paid for everything else herself. Cars, car repairs, car insurance, books, tuitions, clothes, etc... She graduated from both colleges with honors and zero debt. An incredible accomplishment IMO.

My son in law did similar and became a Navy officer. Now when he's out at sea he makes over $8,500 a month.

Yeah I'd rather make less than suffocate underwater, screaming for help that'll never come.

Most of those fatalities would seem to be due to negligence, lots of underwater welding is external anyway, no pressure Delta to worry about.

No, the asshole recruiter lied (no really? Lol) and said I couldn't do underwater welding because my teeth had too many fillings.

I did weld the inside of a sewage tank once while out at sea. Is that the same thing as underwater welding? Hahahaha!

I’ll stick with cars for now. But I may end up working in machining. Just have a feeling that’s where I’ll end up. There’s money in automotive. But it’s not as much as I can make in machinist trades

I have an interview with a machine shop that makes custom tools in a couple days. They wanted to train a blank slate with mechanical aptitude as a machinist.

Nice. My cousin dipped out of the automotive field last year for machining. He’s loving it

OUTSTANDING. I was a hull technician. Basically a welder, fire fighter instructor, fire fighter lead, plumber, and damage control (plug up the holes from battle).

Hawaii 5 times, Phillipines 4 times, Pakistan, Singapore, a tiny island named Diego Garcia, Australia, Alaska, Canada, Washington, and California. I saw Russia and Iraq as well.

Found out last year I'm a combat veteran and I had no idea. Can't even find the mission on the internet, lol.

So many great stories and memories.

Yes and well rinsed, well ventilated, and I was suited up big time for it.

You wouldn't believe how much money can be made in boat repairs. Machinists make a lot as well. If I did it over I'd stay away from automotive repair, too much competition and too many unemployed.
