    @RobP62

He ain't kidding! When snow flies here people lose their minds! I am confident in my driving ability in inclimate weather, but the morons around me scare the crap out of me!

LOL, I pack all of my recovery gear for my commute up 7th East when it snows. I prob pull 2 or 3 people into parking lots just to get them outta the way.

When it snows is when I am reminded why I was a fan of the concept of safety inspections. So many bald tires and inop headlights now. I get why we 4x4 people hated them because theyd get you on mudflaps and little stuff, but a baseline inspection did help some.

Did you hardwire yours? If so, what kit did you use?

I did. It was an Amazon china special. I'll pull it up in a sec. Just did an add a fuse to the panel by your left knee and ran it up the a pillar and across the headliner.

Well, it definitely looks great!

Yea, same here. On all accounts. I would love to see mandatory vehicle inspections. And yes, even though we get some snow every year you would definitely think to see the results that the idiots here were experiencing it for the very first time in their lives. I really like how they act surprised that it is happening.

This was a light snow last year, one night we left the house to run to the nursing home.

    20171209_175145.jpg

It got really bad before we could get 15 miles so we turned around and came home. It took like 25 minutes total. This is the same road.

    20171209_175221.jpg

So not really bad bad but still the road is coated and the stuff under the fresh snow was starting to freeze. This is the last road before my house and I have seen as much as 6" of snow on it before the county can get the plows up there. That's rare but I need to be prepared for that.

Like you guys I am more afraid of the idiots around me that think they are invincible and they have magic tires.

Of course whatever tires I get also have to be able to handle anything off road I can throw at them. That's why the Cooper ST Maxx is in the running.

I am comparing the ST Maxx to the Duratrac (because it has more sipes) and the 295/70r17's in both are nearly identical except for the weight. The coopers are 6 lbs heavier each (66 vs 60). I believe the steel wheels weigh 28 lbs without lugs. That's basically 100 lbs for the Coopers. Not sure if 6 lbs will make any difference at that point.

Yeah, the coopers are heavy mofos, but tough as a brick shithouse over everything I have put it through.

Snow driving is scary for me because the valley tends to be real foggy when the snow rolls in and I am in a white truck. Turn on the amber fogs, the side lights, the chase bar. No chances.

LOL, you sound like me! I'd rather piss someone off than wind up in a ditch trying to avoid them. Of course as soon as they see me I turn this all off.

Oh, I leave my s8 and sqdn pros off, but I do have the older squadron fogs and they are visibly bright but not harshly so if the sun is up.

Plus I can set them all to strobe when I am out helping someone out of a ditch. Looks like a DOT truck if you weren't paying attention:

That's fucking awesome! I have a digital control panel and fuse box I still need to hook up. I wonder if it has a strobe feature.

Switchpro and Spod both do. I run the switchpro, and am never going back to relays. #neveragain

Here's another question about putting tires on these steelies. Will I need wheel spacers? Also, what kind of lug nuts am I going to need?

Totally different beast then. I sent my diffs and it was a 48 hour turn around once they got them.

If you don’t, then diffs mailed in take priority so lead time varies. Can take a couple weeks.
