That’s my man. Gotta get the smoke on. I threw some link sausage that my father in-law loves on the smoker when I was cooking steaks a while back. After he tried it he has asked any time we have it to cook him that on the smoker.

BBQ guy was set up outside of a brewery I was at and I was a little peckish. So I went to get a hotdog not wanting a bunch of food. He said the dogs were pretty dried out so he needed to put some fresh ones on the smoker and to come back in 15-20 minutes. Smoker?? I figured he was grilling them. Came back and got the smoked hotdog which had pulled pork piled on top. It was awesome.

I powder coat all of my drum/keg smokers. If you are going a solid color and have access to getting it done at a reasonable price, it is probably the way I'd lean. Confirm the surface temps of your lid, then make sure you get powder that holds up to it. We don't have to use any high-temp stuff on the drum smokers, for whatever that is worth. It is very resilient.

That said, @Bigdaddy4760 has convinced me to paint the new smoker we're building. Having seen his trailer rig, the paint obviously holds up really well and can be touched up if ever needed. He's dragged that thing down the road plenty, cooked on it a bunch, and has it parked outside. Wipe it with a damp cloth and it looks new, so the paint will do fine if you're not gratuitously harsh with it.

It was. Since I always do mustard on dogs, and have some pulled pork in the freezer I might replicate it adding some Carolina Mustard based BBQ sauce to finish it off.

    Ok, getting hungry now.

Had the best damn hotdog on Saturday on the golf course. Not sure what it is about course dogs but they’re always the best.

Might have something to do with being outside doing something you enjoy and if your like most of those I know who play golf then it could also be the beer.

Hah I had only one beer and it was with the hot dog. It was a slow ass day and I was starving. Beer was great and dog was great. The golf sucked though

I’ve done meatballs. Never the whole sauce though. May have to try that.

What is the power draw on that? Would a deep cycle battery and inverter run it?

I finally broke down and cracked open a can of Spam to throw on the Jim Bowie. I got 7 slices out of it and did 3 with the Unicorn treatment, 2 with Spicy PF and 2 with regular. Will post results directly.

It’s safe to say that I will never eat spam another way again. Before I took the picture my wife and I sampled a piece with unicorn dust on it. It was excellent. I then tried a spicy piece and it was possibly better. I’m already excited for breakfast to have it with a couple over easy eggs.
