So I’ve recently started shopping for a used bed topper and found this beauty. It’s not even a year old and the pictures look good. Seller was asking $1400 but I offered less and he declined. He’s circled back and offered to sell at $1200. It’s the wrong color (my truck is Barcelona Red) and a couple hundred over my budget so technically we’re at two strikes. My question for my friends on TW - is $1200 an amazing deal or is it just okay? I’d really like to hear from those who are currently in the market or have experience, or anyone selling a 3rd gen topper in Barcelona Red, just saying.

It took a long time, but I found mine color matched for under $1000. If it was the correct color, I’d say jump on it for $1200 but not if you need to paint it. Then you’re in *new* territory.

I wouldn't, personally. I sold my MGM shell for around a grand. Re-paint is gonna be two to three hundred I imagine. That top isn't top of the line with options either, so unless you're in a rush keep searching.

Thats a fair deal considering it probably cost 2000-2200 new.

A great deal would be 300-500 bucks. Since it doesnt have any roof racks, id pass for that price and due to the fact that youd need to color match it, and thats another 3-400. For what youd have all in to get it paint matched, you could almost buy new. Just my thoughts on it!

I bought a long bed shell for my 2nd gen with roof racks, carpeted headliner, and dome light and paid 500. Had to paint match it myself for another 200. Im happy with it

Good point about the features. That detail makes a huge difference when it comes to the value of the topper and I’m just not knowledgeable about what to look for or throw more money at.

I was thinking I’d plasti dip it (is that even possible??) but in reality I’d rather just find something super cheap and/or in BR and save myself the headache and buyers remorse. Y’all are right.

Going to keep shopping on FB Marketplace, CL is not producing results.

If you’re comfortable posting (near) where you’re located, there are tons of people on here looking for caps and also enjoy shopping for others too. I found mine by following the north east Craigslist thread.

    That’s a good suggestion. Which thread should I post - the buy/sell?

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Not a great deal if you have to paint it. Could you work the color into the look of your truck with stripes, decals or something to tie it in?
