UPDATE: I am going with the kit from ORW. I was leaning towards doing OME 884s or 885s for the front, but the guy I dealt with at ORW was extremely helpful and he convinced me that the kit with stock coils is perfectly fine for what I'm trying to accomplish. I was ready to buy coils, too, so it was nice to see that he wasn't trying to sell me something he felt I didn't need. Got the package for under $630 before taxes. My install date is this Friday, 8/30/19. I will post photos of before and after and give my initial assessment. Thanks for everyone's input!

It seems I am too late, but you could have saved a lot of money by just staying at 265/65/17.

Most of the people in this thread have been super helpful. This guy was not one of them.

Agreed, it would have been more helpful before you bought and mounted the tires. For your stated requirements, tires the next size down and the stock suspension would have been sufficient.

    Have fun.

Here, you are wrong, again. You could have not said anything. THAT would have been most helpful if all you have to offer the world are your thoughts on others’ mistakes.

Our of curiosity what did the $630 before taxes cover? 5100's on their own are $339.99 so was the other $300 install?

That exact combination is $550 at Headstrong.
Either way you made a good choice. Hope you enjoy your set-up

FINAL UPDATE: Attached are before and after photos. Went with the kit posted in the original post from ORW, price matched down to $550-ish.

Short story: 5100s all the way around with Icon AAL in the rear. Front left has the 1/4” “Taco Lean” spacer. Front 5100s are set on the “4th notch” inside stock coils.

    The ride is really comfortable!

This slight increase in height did alleviate the minor rub issue I had, which sparked the whole desire for the lift.

    Thanks for everyone’s input!

What are ya'll using as a reference point when measuring you height change. I used my pin striping at the center front and rear wheel and found it's a 3" difference. I want to level front and raise rear 1 or 2". Any thoughts.

Standard is to measure bottom of fender to center of hub.

So I get 21" on the front and 21 5/8" on the rear. It's only a 5/8" difference? Am I that blind/old? I'm getting a shell this week. gonna wait and see if it squats any. I'll come right out and say it, imma cheap ass but don't want to put 600 to 1000 in a lift. I'm looking at those front spacers and 1 or 2" rear blocks for around 200 bills. Am I screwing up there? No rock climbing or aerials in my use. Beach and clay only. Or should I spend the money? Thanks again.

NEVER..... EVER... Move up in notches on 5100s. Trust the forum. Dont do it. Just get different springs to adjust for the lift. LEAVE THE 5100s ON THE FIRST NOTCH

It will definitely give him the fix he's looking for. The issue with blocks is the axle warp he'll have with it. And that will cause more issues down the line

You should let your son use his hard earned cash to lift his own Tacoma while you enjoy some beers helping him install them himself.

He is buying wheels and tires and im getting the lift as his Christmas. we will do the lift together with my father. but my question was will the 5100's cause harm if I use them to lift front 2.5" is there something else I need to do in conjunction with them?
