A common problem with first gen 4x4s is the factory skid nut plate. Its super wimpy and the welded nut usually strips out. Often people drill the nut out (as in the first pic) and run a nut and bolt, which is what I planned on doing. After some thought, I decided to go the bomber route and grind out the stock nut plate completely and make by own burly nut plate (second pic). The nut welded to the top of my plate is a 7/16" 20! The reason I went so big is that I have a custom 3-piece skid that weighs 100-lbs and my truck isn't lifted much so I tend to drag it. That's my unique mod.

I did something similar after my straps ripped off in Moab. Very happy with the new versions.

3/16" bent into place and welded on.

    I did the same thing.
Both brackets broke off so I welded some 1.5” x 3/16 (I think that’s what it was) flat stock with a nut welded to the top part.

Just to keep it on track, It will be a few weeks till I get the time to take care of this. I will see how the performance goes, many attempt but none have followed through.

I like these camp lights. Been thinking of doing something similar, always a pain trying to light up an area for cooking. When it's pitch black, little lanterns/headlamps only do so much.

I think you will have some issues with that stupid solid axle taking up all that space.

That was the white one, right? I read about it when I was researching pre-purchase.

I don't believe that the seller of this truck ever posted it on a forum. They also hired a shop to do the swap years ago.
