do you spray the fluid film all up inside the engine compartment everywhere?
i had the battery removed today and there is large hole into the fender area
maybe good to put some FF into that area and fill it up?

and what happened to your paint job?

If you can get the frame very clean and paint with POR15 that would be best. Then spray it every year with something like flood film. If you want the easier way just spray it every year in the fall with fluid film or woolwax and skip the grinding, sanding and painting.

I spray my frame (inside and out), suspension, undercarriage, battery terminals, body ground bolts, axles, brake backing plates, sub frame, supports, the underside of the bed, back side of body panels, exposed sheet metal under the hood, shock towers, inside rockers and doors....everywhere that I can reach and then some.

yeah, it's not a bad idea to spray on the fenders, under the battery tray, the shocks mounts and what you can reach of the frame but don't spray on the engine, or else it will smoke

as for the paint job, it's on it's way  The whole bed is done and on primer, ready to be painted. They'll start working on the cab this week. Can't wait to get it back, it's going to be looking good!

i find it weird that the front skid seems to be non-corrosive in nature but that fuel tank shield/skid certainly is not!

Wha? Looking back at your truck after the first ride with fresh fluid film and thinking your truck is on fire is the best part. Think the stuff smells bad going on? Try smelling it while it burns off the headers...

yeah, it's weird I know. My gas tank skidplate was rusted to shit but not the front one

Fluid Film does not smell very good but it sure does work against rust...

You gonna go with aerosol cans or a spray gun and bulk material. I would say at least 6 spray cans but if you buy a gun and a gallon it'll be cheaper in the long run. I used about a gallon on my tundra but sprayed it everywhere and went heavy. I estimate it will take a half gallon per application from now on. If you buy gallons they are about $40 for fluid film and $50 for wool wax (woolwax is a little thicker and supposedly lasts longer) , and the gun is about $30 and it works great at about 80-100psi on my little pancake compressor.
If you buy gallons, try advanced auto, autozone, O'Reilly's online, they always have coupons for online shopping. I just got 5 gallons for just over $100 using a 25% advanced auto online coupon, 10% discount code added to credit card, and 5% shopping at advanced auto via an app called ibotta.

I'm very interested in doing this, but I have to do it under a shade tree and as economical as reasonable. I couldn't find anything on a "soapy gun", but I did find this:
    https://www.amazon.com/TCP-Global-Proofing-Undercoating-Suction/dp/B07QR18BT7

However, it requires 6+CFM and my 2HP 4gal air compressor can only do 4.4CFM @ 90PSI. You said your pancake compressor did just fine.

FYI- Here's an Amazon link for a flexible wand attachment for the aerosol cans. Which makes me wonder if I really need a high CFM to spray Fluid Film...

My front skid has a giant rust hole in it, and Im not even in the rust belt really. :notsure:
I can do my truck with 4 cans and get a pretty even, medium to thick coverage. I only do the frame and crossmembers and the rear axle with it. I dont coat the underside of the cab or shoot it into door panels or anything as thats not really necessary where I live.

Stupid auto correct. I meant to say spray gun, not soapy gun.
And yes my little pancake compressor worked fine. I had it cranked up to 120psi. It ran pretty much the whole time but worked out just fine.
