Unique way to take a photo in a completely dark room

How it was done. Covered up the torch light on my phone with three yellow folder tabs which provided just enough light.

Just a silly trick shot because why not? I'll let you figure out how it was taken. And no... PS was not used.

I know this is the official photography thread but I was cleaning up my external HD's and came across some stock footage that I had taken with one of my drones while on vacation in Colorado back in 2017. So I ran it through Final Cut Pro and made a short video. The last update they did to Final Cut was the best update yet. It basically rendered third party color grading extensions obsolete. There are still a few good ones out there but there really isn't any reason to purchase LUTS now that you can create your own very easily now.

Anyway... I know I could have posted this in the quadcopter thread but most of the stuff I've seen over there is of all different quadcopter's and not so much the footage itself.

This was taken in Eureka Colorado and the falls in Ouray Colorado.

I posted these pictures of the mine in Eureka earlier

Well... here is the aerial view of the entire mine complex along with the falls in Ouray.

I don't get out as much as I'd like to but this year has been leagues better than 2018 what with my mental health relapse. I'm taking 2019 for myself. I'm healing, I'm pursuing photography more again, and I'm going back to school.

It's amazing how many stars I can get to show up living in the city. From my neighborhood I can see maybe ten stars at most.

You should check out Lonely Speck's ETTR astrophotography guide and post processing post. Not the best photo I've ever taken but it's a good example of what you can capture with heavy light pollution.

Cool man. Thank you for the tip. I wasn't really going for the milky way. I was just trying to see how many stars I could pick up with all the light pollution around here. But if it's clear tomorrow night I might give this a shot since I run everything through LR

Astrophotography is very challenging, but at least you have plenty of time to adjust your settings and try different things (unless clouds are rolling in!).

I've taken a few trips upstate to try my hand at it, along with regular stargazing and watching satellites; the "tumblers" are the most entertaining to track across the sky.

I took these with my Canon T2i and Tamron lens. Always learning new things!

Creating depth by holding plants in front of a telephoto lens has done well for me recently, also here's a quick edit done on Mobile Lightroom.

Last night was the first night that there weren't any clouds around. I literally can see anywhere between 10-15 stars from my neighborhood. There is so much light pollution here with the street lights, and the city close by that it makes it hard to see many stars. Not a big deal since I don't focus on astrophotography all that much but I wanted to see what my wide angle lens could see. Took some trial and error before I started getting good shots with a lot of stars. I ended up taking around 20 pictures and of those I really liked 3 of them. The one I posted had the most stars captured. It's just kind of cool that with a long enough exposure, a lens that is wide enough to bring in the light, and what you can pull out in post, what the finished shot will look like. If I lived in a dark sky environment I'd be taking sky shots all the time.
