Anyone have pics of a Tepui, Smitty Built, etc XL RTT mounted on a bed rack of DC short bed 3rd Gen? I'd love to get one this size but I'm assuming the 72" dimension on these requires that they're up above the cab rather than on one of the lower rack systems...?

    Thanks in advance.

I've been looking into buying an iKamper 4x also.

    86" long x 54" wide on a short bed.

No other way than to go over the cab.

@TSki has a picture of an iKamper mounted on a KBVooDoo bed rack that sits over the cab.

From my understanding he used this rack.

That's what I plan on getting.

    FYI

There are some people that run the larger RTT to hang over the bed of the truck.

All together it's like 9" over the bumper.

    Good luck on your search!

I have the 3.5 person CVT tent on a mid-size bed rack. It hangs off the back of my truck about 18 inches I would guess. No big deal for me (super old pic attached)

18" over the bumper or over the tailgate?
*Even though you have an armored bumper*

Thanks for the pic. So having it cantilevered of the back by 18" +/- doesn't mess with it or feel flexy on that side?

Honestly they only weigh ~ 150 lbs.

Maybe 30 lbs is actually sitting over the tailgate.

I was more worried about my fat 100lb wife sleeping out over the cantilever... you know because my svelte figure certainly wouldn't be an issue.

As long as your bed rack supports the weight it won't matter.

The weight is distributed between the bed rack and the ladder.

I'm sure it would have no problems supporting... uhm... Vigorous activities.... if that's what you're worried about xD

I run an ikamper in a canopy. I hang the extra length over the cab. Zero issues
