That's also in lieu of halogen parts. Your aftermarket parts were in addition to.

They're not going to be $485 outright, that's for sure.

Depends on how you do it, I suppose. I think i went in for about $500 for LED bulbs ($99/set for opt7) for low/high-beam and baja squadrons ($290) for the fogs, then got $100 or so back for the factory fogs. For an extra $85 (less whatever discount I can negotiate), having a purpose-made factory unit with a warranty that I don't have to insrall? Easy sale. Hopefully they work well.

Any source? Haven't heard or seen anything about any color being dropped. Not saying it would surprise me, since they probably don't want to keep around two blues, but so far have not seen anything mentioned except here.

You can bet that if these are standard, it will be reflected in the pricing. Base pricing goes up every year driven by a bit of inflation but mostly new features that people are willing to pay for. Although there shouldn't be that much more production expense with LED vs halogen projector there is engineering costs that needs to be covered and I can't see Toyota or any car manufacturer leaving that on the table. We'll see. Maybe the current crop of competition will have some affect.

They are NOT standard. Another poster stated $485 for LED's heads and fogs.

They dropped the bright blue last year but I think that may have been do to the fading issues, hadn't heard of any colors getting dropped for 2020 either.

Yeah thanks. I got that but was opining that "if" they were standard, you'd still pay in some way. No free lunch.

Wish the LED upgrades would be all around. Would be nice to also have LED taillights without having to go aftermarket. Same with interior, though I have MESO ones now, but it would be nice to actually get something OEM.

Yeah, I'm hoping in the next few years the Ranger, Colorado, Canyon, Dakota, and Frontier make it more competitive for Toyota so they start putting these upgrades as standard. Right not it looks like the Tacoma is still the class leader in sales so there's no incentive for them to throw things in.

Yep, kinda silly they don't just go LED throughout. But, interior and rear lights are pretty cheap to upgrade. Headlights and fogs not so much due to the projector housing.

Likely to be standard on the 4th gens, maybe in the last year of the 3rd gen to help move inventory. At this point, Tacoma being behind the 8 ball is essentially a running joke - I mean the sheer absurdity of drum brakes baffles most people - to the point where Tacoma ownership is now almost cult like.

I've likened the Tacoma to Apple in the past - not too innovative anymore, not overly fancy, but the damn thing will work as new 3, 4, 5, 10 years from now.

I'm with you, but, the way I look at it, OEM would just cost more, and MESO, well, that's just better IMO.

I don't know what people's hangup is on the drum brakes. This doesn't even enter into the equation for me. They're fine. If memory serves, drum brakes on a Taco stop it faster from 60 than the discs on a Colorado do.

If the performance is up to snuff, I don't care if it's disc brakes, drum brakes, or dark matter antigravity inverters.

I mean...Drum brakes are harder to change, but they're still not hard. And they're cheap AF, even if you have to replace a cylinder.

I'm with you, but perception is reality - for those not in the Tacoma club, a $40k vehicle offering drum brakes in the rear is shameful.
