Probably should post specs on tires and wheels, budget and how you intend to use your truck. You’ll get no shortage of help but you gotta help us out first

Hard to believe you are rubbing on more than the mud flap with a 265 tire. What wheel are you running, what are your alignment specs?

Jake, thanx for the reply, i added Ultra 164 Baja 16" rims and 265/75R16 BFG K02 AT tires and got tire rub in front while turning, so need to lift at least the front. to be honest i probably will not be off road that much and mostly highway driving. will pull trailer with backhoe sometimes.

Lift likely won't fix it. You need back spacing, the rims are the cause.

I don’t know your wheel width, but I have 265/75r16’s on 16x8 -12 with a 2” lift and no rubbing. Curious about your wheel width and offset

it wasn't supposed to be a problem but tire hits the wheel well where flair meets well, back about 4" from o/s edge. it came with 275/75R16's. don't have specs on new Ultra 164's. it rubs when sharp turn and surface rises slightly. i have seen many that there are many diferences in the kits, even within the same brands. i have looked at Rough Country, Pro Comp, Wulf, etc. would like to know whats good and bad. i probably am around 3" frt and 1 to 2 back- need advice on that too...

If you are towing as mentioned, you will want to lift the rear too. maintain the factory rake or you'll be seriously nose up when towing that trailer.

i can't remember which rim specs were decided on cause many were discussed and compatibility with tire determined outcome. the receipt that i got was an email and has no info. i will have to get better detail from tire/rim store. i think they were 16x8 but dont know offset/depth. eitherway it's done and now i need to correct problem. i don't understand the "backspacing" and why the lift would not help

With the wider wheel you are now at a wider turning radius... the back spacing determines how the wheel sits on the hub and the off set pushes it in on positive, while on the negative it pushes the wheel out.... hence now causing your rub. Did you have an alignment done after the install. Adding lift doesn't change any of that.

I would suggest having it looked at, adjust the caster and it won't rub.
I can't give too much advice on spacers but there a hundreds of threads about them.

I rubbed with 265s on 17x8.5 -6 wheels, basically the same change in scrub radius as the OPs wheels. Changed front flaps to Rokblokz and didnt have issues after that.

Options are to change the flaps, take them off, or just let the tire self clearance the flaps. Eventually it will rub a thin spot on the flap and wont be an issue.

ITS YOUR ALIGNMENT. the caster is too positive and needs to come back so the tire is more centered. Positive caster too forward, negative caster too far back. It needs to be dialed in. It will cost you. Go to an alignment specialist. After I got my lift and tires I had an alignment and Toyota did an alignment but they do it per factory specs which is what rim and tire lift etc the truck comes with. So began to run on the front wheel well when I backed out of a driveway. A quick little rub. I took it back they sent to to an alignment precision shop and no more rubbing. Get a 2.5 lift on front. Once you hit 3” it throws the upper control arms to far out of the designed angle and will wear out prematurely. 2.5 is the sweet spot. Take a close look at the front tire and you can see it was a hair forward more than center. Just enough
