Total noob question but my Google skills haven't gotten me many answers. I just bought a shell from a 3rd hand owner who didn't know much about the shell model. It's an ARE and it looks like it has the Thule rack system installed in the shell. I am trying to figure out what hardware I need or what racks I can run on my shell. I've got 4 of these plastic lumps in the racks and they are secured with a bolt into a metal piece but I'm not sure what I am missing or what racks will fit with what I currently have. 20190825_190304-1209x1612.jpg 20190825_190259-1209x1612.jpg 20190825_190301-1209x1612.jpg

Other than a prinsu rack or something similar, what Yakima or Thule racks will work with what I have?

You should be able to take those out and put new ones in with a new rack

It looks like you have the Thule Top Track roof mount system as seen here: https://www.etrailer.com/Roof-Rack/Thule/THTP42.html

You should be able to use any thule bars with this as long as you get the right feet that are for your track system. From there you can connect accessories to your bars. I’m not sure what those gray feet connect to... but I hope I got you 1 step closer

It looks very familiar since I just installed my rack on my shell two weeks ago.

Ya, those are definitely Yakima Landing Pads #1 installed in tracks on your shell. Whether the tracks are Yakima or Thule doesn't matter very much - the Yakima landing pads work in the Thule tracks and vice versa.

I have those exact Yakima Landing Pads on mine, with Yakima SkyLine Towers and JetStream cross bars. It's a great system, easy to take on and off, and carries everything I need (mostly canoes, SUP's, rafts).

Since you already have the landing pads, I'd recommed buying Yakima SkyLine Towers and Yakima cross bars of your choice to complete your system.

I take that back, those may be Yakima Landing Pad #4's (hence why they say LP4 on them)....However, you can still use those with SkyLine towers...

Thank you all. That definitely helps me out with getting my rack system figured out. Very much appreciated!
