When I'm in line at Pick-n-Pull, I look at what people are buying. Usually it's accessory switches, intakes, trim, wear items, etc. I buy things based on how much it'll make me, how hard it is to remove, and how popular the item is.

For example, when I see a Tacoma I don't go for the engine or drivetrain. I go for the interior parts. Kick panels, door sills, seats, mirrors, center radio trim, HVAC controls, switches, cluster, etc. That stuff is worth money and is easy to remove.

The electronic climate control found in 2001-2004 Tacomas and 2000-2002ish 4Runners break often. I buy those every chance I get because they sell quickly. Wear items like the power door armrests in 1995-2000 Tacomas are often worn and cracked in the vinyl, I sell those a lot too at a high markup. My secret is I get them from 2nd Gen 4Runners, as power windows were far more common on those than 1995-2000 Tacomas. Same part.

    Thanks for the ideas.

Funny you mention seats. Im probably gonna take my extra passenger bucket seat to work to toss in the dumpster sometime soon. Been on marketplace for $10 for like a month with no interest at all. A few small rips but in good condition otherwise. Ive pulled all the plastic trim and the headrest off to sell along with the buckle. Sick of looking at it.

I've parted out seats before. The rails are worth money for people who want to do seat swaps. I sold the bottom cushion of a bucket seat to an SF fireman once. The seat covers themselves are also worth money.

Most notably, that bottom cushion is worth the most. They're chewed up often.

The bottom cushion is where all the damage is on this one.

The seat cover, or the foam?

    Foam is worth something too.

If it makes you feel better I tossed the entire passenger seat from the 5-Lug. The upholstery and foam were fine, but I didn't have room or patience to deal with it.

this is what may have happened to my first pickup that was blue metallic
    had an autocheck run

    https://repairpal.com/recall/05V389000
Toyota is recalling 1990-1995 4Runner, 1990-1995 pickup, and 1993-1998 Toyota T100 trucks because the steering relay rod may crack under stress. This may increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the steering relay rod.

last autocheck reported mileage was 238k miles in Aug-2oo4 in a very rural part of the state, population of less than 100

It’s called global warming, not anecdotal cornfield cooling.

    i'm just saying!
we are still coming out of an iceage? yes? no?
I am also thinking the warmer weather also may like to move around the globe in 'pockets' to fool everybody and the 'expert' scientists
but i am not a scientist, just an observer from the sticks!
making sure that 2 and 2 does not equal 3

Debating global warming, or really anything besides vehicles on this forum is a pointless waste of time that will coughhopefullycough result in a ban. No matter what you believe, there will always be someone that believes otherwise and you arent about to make them even question their beliefs by stating your opinion on here. Just my humble opinion and why I refuse to take that bait.

With a doobie, or a few drinks, I bet you're a hilarious guy to talk to at the camp fire.

I'll look forward to my trip out there if I head your way

the summer of 1998 was definitely one of the hottest here from my recollection, it started in May and never seemed to end!

    1998 was 1st gen era
    got that base covered

western Colorado is a good days drive for me 10-12 hours (maybe more)
i really should travel to CA to see what you are up against, i have only been to the Seattle area for a month, it rained 3x a day there in May

And that's why the scientists aren't complete fools and measure in more than one spot and average over time. Did you guys at least get the scientific method explanation in the middle of nowhere?

Beaches, mountain ranges, mountain lions, tons of bike trails, etc.

When we're talking scenery and BLM, it's amazing.

    That's it though.
