I upgraded my alternator to the tow package one, I think it's 130 amps. I plan on upgrading the 100 amp fuse soon. But when I look for what size fuse to replace it with i see 120 and 140 amp fuses so I didn't know if anyone knew the answer as to why and if you guys could let me know what size your fuse is. Thanks in advanced.

Thank you. Idk what I was thinking. I swore I had a 100 amp. I do have the 120. I was just confused cuz I didn't think the fuse would be a higher amperage than the alternator.

When my alternator went south, and I was attempting to diagnose the problem, I noticed that the fuse is not easy to remove. I like to pull them and ohm them to test them. I never got it out, and I'm still not sure what it would take to replace it. In the end I had the alternator rebuilt and that fixed the problem. I have the 2009 tow package and it is 140 amp.

Is there a reason you upgraded the alternator? I think the reason the factory tow package has the bigger alternator is because you can provide power to whatever you are towing. Unless you have a need for it, what is the extra 20 amps going to do for you?

I found a thread on here in how to change the fuse and it's not too bad. I plan on doing a decent amount of electrical add on's so would rather have the extra power.

You have to partially disassemble the fuse box.
Probably not too bad to do. Just be careful and you should be ok.
