Looking for a dash cover for my 2014 tacoma so I can put patches on it, block the sun from damaging the plastic, and the glare. Any ideas? I've seen a few on Amazon but there isn't enough information.

    Something like this:

ok cool, how does that one work for you? I'm in a 2014 so I know the dash is a little different.

I get jealous of other ones I see in other trucks through the window, if they catch my eye from afar to look closer.
However, I've seen some other people have the same one.

This one seemed decent on price, and was so-called their best seller. So I was afraid the other ones might not fit so well if they have more experience making this one.
But then again, "you get what you pay for" is the saying, so I wonder if a more expensive one would've fit better.

It seems to have good coverage, but I haven't checked under the dash for sun fading.
It was more for sun protection; I haven't put patches.

It came with adhesive velcro strips to put on the mat and dash, to stick them together. Which I cut and spread out along the dash to try and even it out.
Still, it's not a perfect curve around the dash, at least over the center console. But I don't mind because it seems better than nothing and to still offer protection regardless of whether or not the instrument cluster area/part is perfectly curved.

Honestly I didn't shop around too much so I don't know if there's any other competitors out there. I went with them because it's also the company I used (CoverCraft) before for their UVS sunshade which I liked.
The same UVS sunshade now (bought one for the Tacoma) is a bit challenging to install at the front of the dashmat where the vent is, so I'm just careful with it. That might be just due to the shape of everything in the truck, like the dash and glass.
But I also never ran a sunshade with a dashmat before, only regular dashes that it can't get snagged up on. I don't know if putting more of those velcro strips might help.

Thanks I appreciate the detailed response. Do you think most of these I would be able to throw patches on or at least this one? I'm wanting to buy a patch for each road trip we take and then eventually have it covered. Also it protects glare and the plastic and I can't burn myself haha!

The Covercraft cover I got has worked well. I always get black Son that I dont have ANY reflection back into the windshield.

I have a few patches on the pass side. Not sure how it will affect airbag deployment.

I've had it for at least 10 years and its still good.

I wouldn't worry about the sun as long as you wipe it down with a quality UV protectant every now and then; my '05 sits in the sun most of the time and it still looks fine. Mine's the gray interior in a black truck. The glare is another issue, I don't find it bad except when it comes in at an angle then I can't see the dash or the aftermarket radio- that's a design flaw though and a dash mat isn't going to help that. That said, find one that you like but if you are going to be putting Velcro patches on it and taking them off, such as when you get a new patch and need to rearrange them, I'd look for a good quality product so you don't get that unsightly pilling.

I have the gray interior with a black truck too. My black dash cover eliminates the glare of the dash onto the windshield.

I get some glare but not enough to really bother me but there are times I can't see the instrument panel or radio at all. I've thought about making some sort of hood for the radio like they make for Garmin GPS, fishfinders, etc. It'd be nice if there was a dash mat that had some sort of hood made into it. I'll definitely check out the Covercraft though since you say it helps.
