@Wsidr1 they look great on there! Thank you for the picture!

I got these for $300 from a local dealer, guy bought a new Tacoma and had a set of Methods to go on right after purchase.

You got a good deal. I paid $575 for mine, with tires.

I do like the tires though for Summer use, so I feel good about my purchase. They are the factory Firestones and seem to be wearing and riding well.

That is a solid deal for sure.

I have the 265/75r6 ST MAXXs since the truck is a daily and they are really a fantastic tire!

Frizzman said"BORA makes the hub-centric .75" version. puts 2nd/3rd Gen wheels at proper BS with 1st Gen. you will still hit the frame at full lock depending on tire choice. I just live with a little frame rub." I want to do this, put 3rd gen stock wheels (25mm offset) on my 2004 Tacoma 4x4 whose stock wheels are 15mm offset. I am new to using wheel spacers, and new to the forum, but it seems the net result of the above swap would be to push the wheels out about 1/4". So why does Frizzman have any frame rub? Any does anyone know if the 2004 stock wheel studs have to be trimmed to use the BORA .75"? My 2016 wheels have a slight pocket, maybe 1/8-1/4".

    I have oversized tires (32" - 265/70-17)

If you are using stock rims and tires you will most likely never rub (31" - 265/70-16 or 265/65-17))

I've used 3rd gen TRD offroad wheels with no issues. They had stock tires, I believe 265/70/16.

I recently bought 3rd gen rims for my 1st gen double cab 4x4. I read through other forums and read they fit with no issue. To my surprise they do not fit in the front! I only get about 3 full rotations finger tight as apposed to 8 in the rear. Can anyone please help me with a link or even a reliable brand and size I should get for longer wheel studs? Thank you

clean the center hubs of any debris or rust, this will hang up the wheel/rim from seating correctly

all Toyota Tacoma PreRunner/4WD rims are the same bore/hub and bolt pattern.

I measured the rear and front wheel studs and the rears are longer. Maybe because it's drums in the rear vs rotors up front? The rims sat flush against the rotors and the rims cleared the calipers. Unless you mean the rust is between the rotor and center hubs? These are the 3rd gens I bought, and the steelys are currently what's on my truck. Everything is stock in the front end if that is of any help.

interesting. my studs are the same length. are you the original owner? if not someone could have replaced the studs, although odd it would be all of them

also never hurts to take things off and give it a good clean with a wire wheel

Yeah, it is pretty annoying haha. I am not the original owner but there is zero visual evidence of any work done and no maintenance records. Maybe Toyota shortened the front wheel studs in Canada?? (Original Canadian truck and I am located in Canada). I will definitely take another look and try to clean what I can.

Still Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction for what length wheel studs and brand I should replace in the front to fit the 3rd gen rims, or if I should even buy bolt-on spacers with longer studs.

I'm just spit-balling here. You've tried all 4 wheels on the front with the same results, correct?

Got any pics of the front and rear where the wheel mounts?

Any Toyota or aftermarket shank style lug should work the same, I think it's 12x1.5 thread pitch but that's just going off hazy memory

No, I didn't try that because I measured the lug holes and all 4 are the same depth, so it shouldn't make a difference. Unfortunately I did not take any pics. and thank you, I will try to buy the wheel studs today.

You're using proper Toyota lug nuts right? The kind that extend through the wheels stud bores

    Like this style:
I always ran the lug nuts that came with the new wheels

Tried to get a picture of how much the studs stick out on mine, its not super easy to see. But you can see they barely extended past the wheel. Maybe 3/8 of an inch. I stopped counting after getting 10 rotations of the lug nut onto the stud.

These aren't the trd offroad of course, but still 3rd gen (maybe 5th 4runner for these, same difference) wheels, so I imagine they fit pretty much the same.

that's how mine look too, they stick out a tiny bit but yeah the shank style should get 5+ turns easy

    @hesher do yours look like @time623 ?

@time623 I had no idea those lugs existed to be honest.. @frizzman that is exactly how they looked on my front end before trying to put any lugs on. I definitely need those lugs. Still, the odd thing is that the 3rd gen rims fit fine in the rear with way more threads sticking out and all 24 lugs are the same. If this is as simple as buying those shank style lugs I apologize for all the fuss on such a simple solution. I bought my 3rd gen rims second hand and they came without lugs. @time623 @frizzman do you know where I can buy those shank style lugs for my first gen?

From what I'm seeing they're an M12x1.5mm "Mag Seat" Lug nut.

These look pretty much identical to mine: https://www.amazon.com/12x1-5mm-Factory-Cruiser-Pre-Runner-Off-Road/dp/B09NRPDBYW?crid=2XJUS5H9Z0DIC&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._vTY3Mp36ryo3E18nYfacmowWHsLa1UwXhRK6N6hy8ajp3Fp6tAW4YU7N5wGxYaY9xPWMmRJwe6ss2UCEtei8QuWhlFFAvVaU3w98SdsnlMf5S_FHFAIlRaNHL_sQR9kTRgCgQCbdiXfYcLlKxB7tysN7CaDYqWtRqDBKITMYTAE3gVnNk9JZ1wywafiJOOmrqzOSXDVUn9TqzTqESeeksOoHARfjV46GhDl0ha2DgM.RK-Fo5UiH8u4_1cp9tmTglnvZ3NIqup8cdmTiVt-GKc&dib_tag=se&keywords=tacoma+lug+nuts&qid=1712294822&sprefix=tacoma+lug+nuts%2Caps%2C153&sr=8-6&th=1

I've never just bought lug nuts before so I don't know if $20 Amazon lug nuts are a red flag or not. But for all I know that's what the guy on Facebook gave me when I bought my wheels.

Don't feel bad, I honestly had no idea either. I was just taking my wheel off for other reasons and noticed how the lug nuts were designed, only then did I think that could be your issue.

I bought a set off Amazon for my brother's 2013 and no issues.

the lugs are keeping the wheel on the hub, the hub is taking the brunt of the weight ("hub-centric" wheels for Tacoma's)
