    Great question B! Thanks! :fistbump:

I should have measured my stock heights before ordering my kit. I went with the recommended setting on my Billies of 5th/6th notch to compensate for lean. I apparently didn't have any because now the passenger side is nearly an inch lower. I also rub on that side now. I have 600# coils. If I add a bumper, and a winch the 650# coils might be enough but I would like to take those shocks down to maybe 1 or 2 each and make up for that with heavier coils.

I honestly have no idea if this is how this works or will work out the way I think it should. You guys are the experts here and I just listen and learn. If I am off base then please say so.

I do know that Headstrong does not recommend using 700# coils with the shocks I have. The say to max them out at 650#. If 650# will do it then so be it.

Oh, @FadedComa B, I should also point out these steel wheels are 30 pounds, so any larger tire is going to put me at nearly 100 pounds per corner. That's a lot of unsprung weight.

My rhinos are a touch heavier with 285 nittos. With no bumper the 887s were awesome. With the bumper and winch the 886 would have the same results but I got the deal on the Fox stuff before I installed.

I say steel wheels and some st maxx in 255/85r16. No spacers needed, won’t rub anything, still over 33” tall and will function phenomenally in all conditions. The best of all worlds.

But will he need to use shims to get the driveline vibrations out??

    Asking the real questions.

Driveline angle isn’t affected by tire size. That’s just rear lift.

But it's overanalyzing Rob, so just play along...

The headlights will also need to be re-aimed with the new tire size as well.

Ok. I mean I'm at least at 80ish pounds now so if you're over I'm not worried. This is why I went with the 6112s. To be prepared for excessive weight.

I'd still like to switch the springs to at the very least, the 650#. The ride otherwise is fine. Some guys complain that going slower with higher notch settings results in a rougher ride.

    I wouldn't know :anonymous:

Randall, that's an excellent idea except for one thing.

    20190804_111007.jpg

I already bought 17" steel wheels. I even already bought new OEM TPMS sensors. Right now the wheels are at Kore Offroad about 6 hours north of me. They started off in Pittsburgh and are going to AOAA then to eastern PA, then ultimately to me via our fabulous TW Express! My lovely wife, aka the smart ass said the wheels will have more miles on them than I'll ever put on them. HA HA HA.

I paid $100 for them. I paid $130 for the TPMS.

Can I work with these or should I look for 16s?

Why would adding taller tires alter the driveline angles B?

@RobP62 I'm running 6120 Billies up front with 650# springs. When I added the Slimline bumper and 12k winch I had to install 3/4" spacers to level it back out. Now my 6120s only had two spring perch options (gen 2 TX/Baja kit) so I couldn't just move the perches up. Also the higher the perches the more preload on the springs and the firmer the ride.

Taller tires do not alter drive line angles but suspension lift does. Sorry, I'm not B but threw my 2 cents out there anyway.

See, and that's why I thought the 700# springs would eliminate the need for spacers.

Another thing I should point out is ultimately I will put a cap on the truck, and a rear bumper with a spare and fuel cans.

If I add too much lift with 700# springs up front then add all that weight in the back I could wind up with the dreaded Bro rake.

Of course all of this is a long way off.

The second set of tires is happening before November.

This that and the other thing.
ive got the 887's with a front bumper and full set of steel skids and I lost 1/2'' of lift in the front, but, the ride is great haha no complaints ride quality wise. loosing lift sucks tho

Thanks for chiming in Erik!

Well, I'm definitely going with the Mobtown tube bumper which weighs less than most full steel versions, but the winch will add 150 lbs. My skids are aluminum and no fill plates on my sliders.

I definitely don't want to lose any lift height and I certainly don't want to have any rubbing when I stuff the tire.

    Thanks again! :canada:
