I usually park my Truck outside but needed to unload things into the house so I decided to back into the garage.
I went in too fast and caught the garage door with my shark antenna.

I think the truck sensor did not beep because the truck bumper had cleared the door.

Anyway i tried putting it back since it was still partly attached but it was no use. The garage door bent the antenna like a bottle cap.

I got a quote from toyota dealers and they said about $440-$660 for labor ($220/hrs) plus the $220 OEM antenna. That is ridiculous. The issue is they needed to uninstall the headliner to get the antenna in.

I did some research and found the antenna OEM for $175 from a dealer in SoCal and had shipped.

I called local body shops and got a quote for $275 total if i had the OEM part.

Long story short...The antenna incident cost me $450. They did the work in a few hours and it looks good as new.

Kept it flat on roof with tape.

I actually took my shark fin off to paint it to match the MGM paint. Wasnt that difficult to take the headliner down, and it only needed to come down enough to loosen the big nut attaching it to the roof. Could have saved some $$, but it is intimidating if you are not familiar taking your truck apart! Lol

    Nice!
Unfortunately I don't have any experience messing with the inside of the truck. I did not want to risk it for $275.

Probably a good call. Broken clips, new squeaky noises and such may be worse then just forking over the money for someone else to deal with it.
