They are pretty hard to mess up as they only go in certain plugs, you'll have a handfull that don't connect to anything. Don't forget to connect the RCA for the rear camera, the harness supplied with the HU has one plug with a yellow rca, thats how they isolated the signal instead of us having to splice into the oem harness. I didn't have time to get my dongle put behind the dash this weekend, I may wait until I come up with a solution for the dual USB pass thru switch as those 2 are just hanging behind the HU for now. I'm really enjoying having CarPlay, it makes things so easy my music/podcast startup right where I left off every time. Hey Siri comes in handy as well

No you install the carlinkit.apk and it will ask you if you want to launch it upon start every time and it will simply prompt you to plug the iPhone into the cable and it connects to CarPlay, super easy

It did say some modification to the brackets might be required. I didn't install mine yet waiting on a bezel to get here, but I thought someone said they had to drill a new hole for their brackets. maybe @DoubleD.17BlazingBlue can help

Yes I cut them so they would allow the unit to sit further back into the dash. Look at the pic I posted of them. The part that normally would sit against the back of the HU face is the part of the kit I cut off, used my chop saw LOL

Thank you! Got it mounted wow what a difference I used some crappy metra moutns that were plastic. I wish I did this when I got the truck.

Next I need to chop the metra mounts like you did and re do them this weekend. I also need to get the sat adapter and get the right launcher on it.

This is for sure my best mod yet.

For some reason I don't have forward and back and the song information or the ability to do so from the steering wheel. I have volume though!
