yeah it's just hard to continue to justify buying equipment when I still may not be motivated to workout at the house.

It's awesome having people in the medical field at home. Have a RN and a MD in my close family, one of my best friends/gym buddies is a PT, another friend is a chiro. I get lots of good advice.

I love the idea of a home gym, but I feel like I won't hold myself as accountable. I will start finding shortcuts and I just don't think the drive will be there for me. Props to anyone who can still motivate at home. I am just not one of those. More people in the gym (to an extent) the better I perform.

I am like not motivated to workout at home virtually at all. I always want to skip and go do laundry or I walk by the beer fridge.
Its why I cannot work from home. Shit will never get done.

It is! Especially when I can just call them if I need a basic script.
My MIL is a NP too which is nice.
I was on the track to go to med school but bailed so I have a lot of friends from college who are docs dentists and DPTs.
Obviously was in the legal field so I know dozens of lawyers. Theres always someone to call if I’m in a pickle LOL.

I had my fears about that as well, but there is really no excuse when the gym is in the garage. I just think to myself when I want to skip, are you really that fucking lazy that you can't walk to the garage? Plus, my gym wasn't 24 hours, so if I get home late from work and want to lift at 11 pm or midnight I still can.

I hate being around other people when I lift. Maybe it's because I don't feel as confident as you guys. But I prefer solitude. Just the weights, my music, and me. Nothing else to distract me.

Separate note: anyone in here good at the clean movement and have any tips for me? Want to get good at it but having trouble. Been watching a ton of youtube vids but I like hearing from people directly.

I fiddled with oly for a long time. It's hard to offer advice without seeing what your clean looks like. However, the most common error I struggled with and see others do hands down is not staying over the bar long enough. People tend to start unhinging at the hip way too soon (usually as soon as the bar passes the knee). This puts your shoulders behind the barbell when you reach the power position causing a massive loss or your ability to rapidly accelerate the bar upwards. It will also cause you to kick the bar out in front of you too much making the catch difficult. Read up on the two bold terms. Understanding them is key.

Jared Enderton puts out a lot of good info on IG. Check him out.

Other random things I can think of... Get really good at being mobile in the front rack position. Get really comfortable at the rock bottom of your squat.

Thanks, I will check him out!

I am not very mobile in front squat position. Wrist flexibility is something I need to work on. I can front squat a good bit but usually use straps as handles when I go heavier.

I am pretty comfortable holding ATG for awhile.

What I perceive to be my main issue is getting into the "catch" position. Maybe it is just a matter of practice. But I tend to just muscle the weight up and when I catch I am almost standing up.

As cliché as it sounds, you'll have to forget the weight and perfect your technique if you want to move any weight. Abandon the "muscle it up and catch it high" immediately. That's not going to get you anywhere. Definitely work on your front rack. It can be limited by several things you'd never think of. Tight lats were always what I had to work on. There's a lot of good stuff on mobility WOD on youtube. Have fun with it. The movements are so technical there's TONS of room for improvement. Kept me occupied for 5-6 years and never perfected it. Haha.
