Looking at getting a gun cabinet. What is everybodies thoughts on the stack-on gun cabinets? Secureit lightweight cabinets are pretty expensive, are they worth the price? Any other recommendations?
    Thanks

For gun storage they’re not worth it, 5 minutes with a grinder and you have all the access you want.
I use one for reloading components but that’s it.
If Mt has tractor supply stores look at their safes, they’re not real high quality but they’re better than Stack-On, and they run from about $300 and up.

Biy the biggest and best you can afford, as weapons are like rabbits.

    They multiply quickly.

For what they are they are fine IMO. I view them in the "keep the smash and grab crowd out" type. Will do just fine for keeping the quick in and out guys and kids, visitors, ect out. But for someone who is a bit more determined....they arent that great.

All I am looking for is keeping the kids and guests out. Not worried about fire rating. When I get a house I will get a actual safe. Renting a place right now with the living area above the garage and I don’t want to deal with moving around a safe.

Since you are planning to put it on an elevated floor, I suggest going with something lighter rather a heavy, traditional safe. You don't want it crashing through the floor.

It sound to me like a Stack-On would serve your current needs well. For some added security, you can bolt it to the floor and/or wall.

O read or heard somewhere, the garage is where most fires start....

Buy a fire proof aka resistant safe.

Most fires start either in the kitchen or laundry room, sleeping with your bedroom door closed and shut decreases your chance of dying in a fire as well as the chance of being murdered.

If your house catches on fire and a room is on fire the easiest way to save your house is closing all doors and windows so when the FD arrives it will typically be confined to a small area.

    So based on this.

Might as well use wooden crate with a padlock on it to store said weapons.

You could, minimal difference between that and an 18 gauge steel box.

Wooden crate with an antique padlock would make a pretty cool way to secure firearms.

Good call. I will just throw all my weapons in a crate and call it a day.

Again. I am looking for a cabinet to store guns, not a heavy safe. I am not worried about theft or fire. Just a way to store guns neatly and secure from mainly a 2 year old kid. Tired of storing weapons on the top shelf of the closet or locked up in individual cases.

The stack-ons are fine for that, I’m not aware of another similar mainstream brand that has similar products.

In 3 years your kid is going to go digging through everything, find the key for the cabinet, and holding a gun.

If you're 100% ok with that, get a cabinet. If not, get a safe.

have a smaller safe for important documents and a 24 gun stack on safe i got at BJs Wholesale Club. Was in sale, think it was $550 out the door. works great in my garage. I recommend rechargeable dehumidifiers for inside the safe.
