Dam it, wife is on board and this is what I think we want, but no dam kid needs money for drivers ed.

 

If I really could, I would. Just got the wife on board after the NE taco meet. I’m trying to get tires, need to pay for sons drivers ed, and I don’t really make any money in the summer. Hourly employee of a public school.

 

Get him a few lawn cutting jobs. Pay his own way. He'll appreciate it more if he has to pay for it.

 

We grew up almost identical I see

 

I have sisters no brothers but I started working at 13yrs. I lived across the street from a mechanic shop. I worked for that guy all through hs. Just cleaning shit and they taught me oil changes and brake jobs. It was a cool job

 

Honestly, we keep bringing up the J.O.B. to him. In his defense, he does cross country in the fall, swim in the winter and last year he did track in the spring then a Babe Ruth season. That alone makes me happy, he does this while being an active member in his Boy Scout troop. So at this point, he is a productive person and thats more than I see from most of the kids I work with.

Oh, and its not always good for kids to be making money, in my case I was making money by 6th grade, buyin weed then. Booze by 7th, and smokes by highschool, all with my own money.

 

I don't see him needing a job if he stays that active in school with sports and all.

My unsolicited two cents, being active in the Boy Scouts and sports, you won't have to worry about him driving a manual transmission ! He sounds like a great kid !

This is our stance as well, but I am not going to tell him that.

Thank you, we have put in the hard work, and continued to support and push him. Now he is showing us why all that work was important, and I believe he will be a great adult.

Oh and while up North this Summer, he got about an hours worth of "driving" the Manual Taco, he said he never thought he would get to drive my truck.
