Right on. $750 fits my budget right now a lot better than $2,000+ for a nice fiberglass shell. I'll definitely be making a platform and drawers like I had in my last truck but my dogs will be riding up front now unless they catch a skunk.

Mine has weatherstripping under bars and no water gets in. Thin piece of rubber and rail clamps down and forms a barrier

@Kurupt_hawaiian I just realized from your photo that the bed rail cap appears lower than the top of the cap across the bed (up against the cab). Am I seeing that correctly? If so, is that an aftermarket cap going across the bed are are 3rd gens built that way?

It’s actually the same height. Might just be the angle of the pic making it look that way.

Mine held up through winter last year in Utah. I was just sure to brush the snow off the top and was very careful with the vinyl windows when it was below freezing. I plan to get a solid back panel so I don't have to be quite so careful when it is really cold.

Dust isn’t a problem, just roll up the sides and rear window and drive down the highway. voila, no more dust.

    Reserected from the dead.
I've had no trouble with mine for 3, Michigan winters.

I actually think we have worse conditions. The road salt gets everywhere, including the teeth of the zippers. Its almost gross washing the STer on warm days. The salt grime just streams off the STer.

In Mi also. I know the salt sand mix stuff.
I used to have a fiberglass topper on a 1988 2x4 ranger eons ago. Windows were essentially null and void in the winter due to salt. Have you collapsed and put back up the soft topper in cold temps? Like the sub 20 degree days or less. Reason this perks my interest is that I occasionally put 4 wheeler or a snow blower back there. Moving a fiberglass topper used to be a two man job, not sure about currently. Maybe the cheap aluminum toppers can be moved solo?
Have you had a large amount of snow accumulate on top? Im on lake superior and lotsa lake effect occasionally. Can obviously brush it off, but if visiting keweenaw it can get deep overnight.

I didn't fold mine up last winter because I was worried about the windows cracking, one of the reasons I'm thinking of getting solid panels for winter. As far as snow I think I had a build up of about a foot or so at most. It sagged a bit before I brushed it off, but it snapped back into shape pretty fast. We get that salty brine on the roads in Utah in the winter, that is probably what is causing problems with my zippers. That is the one issue I have been having. I have one zipper that takes a bit of work even after cleaning it with soapy water and a toothbrush.

Love my soft topper. I live in the Seattle region so we get a lot of rain and it does not leak through at all. There is an option to use Velcro to tape down the back end of the soft topper to your tailgate. You have to stick the velcro on the top end of your truck bed (i personally don't think it looks bad at all, my Tacoma is blacked out so the Black tape just blends with the truck) With the velcro on no dust gets into the truck bed when driving.

I think my favorite thing about the soft topper is how versatile it is. You can take it off in a matter of minutes, it looks good, and the sides like some other people have shown can be rolled up super easily.
I put my dogs in the back in their kennel and i can easily roll up a corner or a side (depending on how hot or cold it is) to allow air flow to get in the truck bed when driving.

Plus for the price you can't beat it.

Only downside is your visibility takes a hit, but i have the tech package so with blind side monitoring and using your mirrors it really isn't an issue at all
