My son wants me to use the plug-in to cook using the instant pot cooker. Maybe this weekend, in the dark, so neighbors don't laugh at me.

    Nooo, no no!

I heat Hot Pockets in the OEM calzone warmer that's standard on the Sport and Pro aka "That Useless Hood Scoop".

Some people get carried away. Added: It is not recommended to cook bacon or any fatty meats on your catalytic converter.

Lemme tell you. A hot meal off a muff pot after a long ride on the snowmobile is heaven on earth.

Basically, but your math is a bit off. 400W at 120V AC is 3.33A AC. At a power factor of 1.0 <-- that part is important as motors are usually not at 1.0, essepcaily
Those equations are valid for DC, but they are a good estimate for AC, again if you assume PF = 1.0

And just a quick sanity check for people:
    400W AC @120v = 3.33A
    400W DC @13.6v = 29.4A

The cost of increasing the inverter size quickly adds up the larger you make the AC output

I think this thread is already off the rails, but hopefully my post above helps someone out in the future :notsure:

Wrong! Hot Pockets get warmed up nicely inside the cabin, right where that thing that says it'll charge a phone. My phone is warm as hell after 15 minutes of driving with it in the Qi charger, aka: "phone warmer"

I concur with your calculus, however the inverter is often only in 100W mode and I didn't bother with the typical full charge voltage for a 12v battery, since the thread was initially quite rudimentary and the point I wanted to make was starting motors draws more current than the placard rating.

If the Qi charger doesn’t work with the hot pockets, just put them on the phone as it charges. It’d serve as a hot plate of sorts
