OP stated that they already have Total Chaos bed stiffeners. The bed sidewall failure is happening despite having stiffeners.

I would be curious to see what the inside looks like with the bed-stiffener. They are pretty stout. curious if it is actually bending the stiffener.

I can see you're on a budget, so here's some free punctuation you can use ".,!?"

Old cars are expensive for different reasons. You either have a car payment or a repair bill.

Unless you have a flatbed this is a risk, any brand, any size.

I noticed my bed stiffeners could use larger washers on the inside the tail light housing area. Maybe see what's going on in there and add larger washers or make a plate that connects the bolts to make one big washer..

Tacomas are still king. Resale value is still king. There's 1 Ranger/ Canyon for every 5 Tacomas here. If it wasn't reliable/ great looking trucks then it wouldn't be. There are so many here I had to customize a bit to look different.
Trucks don't crack on it's own. It takes stress and a lot of it. Some idiot jumped a hill and complained his headlight housing cracked.
My truck has been problem free except Entune which they upated and it's been a great truck. It's so smooth at idle it doesn't feel like it's running.
Tacomas are best selling trucks for a reason.

I've had all 3 gens, 1997, 2011 and now my 2017 for 50K miles and as of today just passed 3 years. Third Gen has been my favorite. I loved my 97 but it was nowhere near as beefy as this truck. My 97 was way less complicated, smaller and simple. It has its appeal but the new trucks are not shit. Nothing is perfect and Toyota really screwed up with the initial ECU drive by wire system. It has gotten better and OV tune makes the truck significantly better. I will concede that it was way easier to see over the hood in my lifted 97. I parked next to a 1st Gen and was surprised how much bigger the new truck is.

I have said the same about CaliRaised and a couple others. But, most don't get it and are content paying more for less.
