Automotive enthusiasts in general would care/be interested. Those journalists are the ones relaying that information back to said people via digital subscriptions, magazine subscriptions, etc.

Went to dealer Saturday and they found me one in Georgia for allocation but we can't talk numbers yet because Toyota hasn't even released them yet. If I heard correctly, this truck should hit the lot at the end of September but changing the allocation may affect that.

I looked on the SET website today and saw 2019's still becoming available through the 4th of October. I'm thinking mid October we'll start to see the 2020's...

    ***Edit***
That was looking at I-95 Toyota

Might be regional, new models have arrived here mid-September the last 3 years.

My understanding is there is a bit of an overlap. They are still building a few trims in 2019 but have discontinued others and are gearing up for some on the 2020's. As is nature of Toyota, no it doesn't make sense.

Just so I understand, are you saying they may have overlap on the assembly line?
The only overlap I could see is a 2020 surpassing a 2019 at the port because it doesn't have as many port installed options keeping it from hitting the lot.

That may have been it but then again it could make sense that there is a production overlap since some trucks are Mexico and some are Texas. I'm working with two separate dealers and to be honest, I don't know if they're being told much from Toyota because some questions were unanswered on my end and I pried. That being said, the computer did say end of September for 2020 so I'm guessing we should see them on lots around then.

Ah, I didn't factor in there being two separate facilities that actually assembled them. I guess that's a definite possibility, especially for the ones in Mexico coming through customs.

So I am in the market, but have never purchased a new model Tacoma right after the new model hit the lots. Outside of the Pro, which I'd expect sticker price at a minimum based on general demand, what are other expecting to pay below sticker?

Buy a 2019 if you find one you like. I'm doing 2020 because I want the updates. But if you don't care about them, go 19. You can save A LOT. Wish I didn't care so much...

My sense of it is 2019's that haven't been allocated are done. The change over to 2020 models is not a big deal as production goes goes. No major body changes or drive train changes. Just different lights and seats etc. No no retooling required. The 2020's will be here when they are here. Toyota want's to keep the suspense going but they also want to sell trucks. They want to support the dealers by letting them move their current inventory of 2019s, but in the end, they want the 2020s to hit with a splash. The fact they there numerous threads going on this very subject shows the excitement and anticipation that's in the air. I hope they live up to the hype.

I've looked at the 19s and the savings are pretty incredible, but I'm not interested in a 19. I'm just wondering what, if any, I can reasonably expect to come off the sticker on a 2020.

Right now, the first wave to hit the lots... I'd bet not so much. Wait until mid end of December and there might be some negotiating room.

...^^^... The same basic time lines in the fire apparatus business aka fire truck industry ... especially since Federal S&S initially took over E1 and Oshkosh took over Pierce Mfg. and Bronto Skylift hit the NA markets.

Same here. There are Voodoo Pros here in town that can be had in the low to mid 40's right now. That's 5k less than anybody would do 6 months ago.

I'm soooo tempted. But I need that Android Auto and that seat lol

I either need the extra 1/2 inch of seat adjustment downward, or an access cab... android auto is a huge plus. But voodoo is soooooo sexy.

Pretty sure I could talk a voodoo pro down to 40k round these parts - "web prices" in the 43-46k region. But it would have neither the seat nor an access cab, so my head would still be oh-so-slightly on the headliner.

Yup. Pretty sure I could hit 42k or so without a lot of fight. I'm only 5'10", but I guess I have a long torso or something, because my hair brushes the headliner in a sunroof truck.

I'll console myself with the knowledge that Voodoo should be available in an OR trim in 2020. And it'll be cheaper by quite a margin than a Pro. I'll miss out on the hood scoop, and the shocks. Meh.

So my dealer got the pricing for the 2020 Tacoma today and says he can get mine allocated. I was giving him my list of demands and while researching the accessories I noticed D-rings were on the accessories list for $55. WTH my 2017 came standard with D-rings in the bed. Do the 2019 TRD OR have them standard? Could this be an add on for like a SR or low trim level?

d rings in 2016 were for additional rings at the front of the bed, not the ones at the back.

It might be that option coming back

Also, care to share that pricing/accessories list?
