Do you run the Milwaukee m12 compressor? I have one and bring it along always. How long did it take you to air up all 4 tires?

 

Same. Added a different chuck so I could just quick connect it on like dems old bike pumps.

 

To add 10 lbs to each tire ×4 was probably about 25-30 minutes including moving between tire time. So about 5 minutes at each tire? I haven't charged the battery yet by the way and it is at 1/2 charge still but it is the 6.0. This includes several bike tire airing sessions. I was thinking about putting a spare charger in the bed and just leaving it plugged into the outlet all the time with another battery.

If I ever get a chance to run a tire down I will time it next time. Best use yet was pulling a screw, plugging the tire, and airing it back up all within 15 minutes.

 

Gotcha. Good to know. So not ideal for airing up multiple truck tires. But, it deff gets it done in a pinch or if your patient. 5 mins at each tire isn’t too bad. I’ve aired up mainly bike tires and air bags with mine. Done a car tire once but was curious on the truck tires. I do love this little Milwaukee inflator. The digital psi readout and the ability to dial in a pressure and press go then just walk away and have it auto shut off is nice.

Viair 88P crowd. Very pleased with mine.

 

I was able to fit my 400p in the smaller storage but you have to keep the hose in the same compartment as the compressor and angle it into the storage compartment. It's a anug fit and barely clears the backseat but that keeps the compressor from bouncing around.

 

I have the 88p. For me I couldn't justify spending so much more when I only use it occasionally to air down when going to the snow in the winter. The fill rates are pretty good. And I'm only running 265/75/16s (31" tires) so it works great for me.
I installed it in the bed cubby of my 2nd gen. Ran bigger guage wire from battery back to compressor and left switch in line to turn it on or off from bed.

I can hit all 4 tires no problem

 

Very cool! How did you mount it in there? I’ve been looking to mount mine in the engine bay but back there would work too.

 

I just pulled the bed cubby out and marked the 4 holes on the compressor on the cubby. Pre-drilled the 4 holes then drilled a hole for the positive wire to come in the cubby. Screwed the compressor in and re-installed the cubby. Ground wire is ran to the frame just under the cubby.

Hard to tell by the pic but the compressor head is sitting off the cubby about a 1/4 inch because the compressor gets pretty hot.

 

Did you wire in a switch? Or just leave it hardwired to the battery?

 

Ya its hardwired at the battery then goes through the switch that came on the

viair 88p. I just pulled the switch out of the compressor. It sits loose in the bed cubby (can be seen on the left of the compressor in the attached pic). I need to come up with a better spot for the switch but it's not causing any issues the way it is.

 

Gotcha. I'll probably get a CH4x4 switch and put it in my last open switch spot inside the cab.

 

I think multiple tires will be fine. Adding 10lbs to an already half full tire is a task for any little compressor. I have been impressed with mine and think you made a good choice. That being said, it has been in the bed of my truck, in a toolbox, under a hard tonneau, in 100+ weather all summer. I wonder how it is...

 

Off topic but What tool box setup you use under the cover? I’ve got the mx4 cover and have been gathering ideas of a tool box under there with some items but not sure yet. I might just get a hard plastic box with a lid and strap it down and throw stuff in that.

 

Large Dewalt ToughSystem. I bought a few and they let me down for garage storage, are not waterproof, and the extra large size easily breaks if you stand on it, so one got moved to the truck up against the cab to help offset the gas tank weight.

 

I saw this at harbor freight the other day It claims 336 watts(2.8 amps at 120v)

This plus a small aluminum tank for $200 seems like a good deal.

viair 88p runs about .64 cfm @90psi so looks like the output is about the same (which is pretty slow... but doable). How are you going to power it? From the converter? I'd be curious to see if the 400w converter would run it ok.

viair 88p is way cheaper. what i would like to do is figure out how much air i need to air up all 4 of my tires and get a tank to match.

 

If you want a pressurized tank to air up all 4 tires then look at C02 tanks
