Stamped. But the stamping sucked so they started milling. But Soviet milling was no better than stamping. ....

PPQ, the grip is great and the factory trigger on it is one of the best I have ever felt.

@TacoJova if your budget is $1300 get an Arsenal.
They are top notch and have stamped or milled. Personally I'd go with a stamped. Cheaper and lighter. Y'aint gonna break either. Maybe look for a used one. Or find a Labor Day sale.
I sold a few of mine but still have one chambered in .223.

If you want to step it up get a semi custom from https://rifledynamics.com/

I’m thinking a used one too because I’m just not gonna be able to get a lot of use to justify a new one. I’ll look for one at my local gun stores for a Arsenal

NHM91, Norinco, Yugoslavian, zastava are all decent. I still favor the Norinco, its been the best shooting. I havent owned a Russian Ak so that may be top of the line. Not sure on the American

never really looked but they probably are going to be expensive. I know years ago they were expensive so I didnt bother looking. My Norinco cos $500 and that was quite a bit about 22yrs ago.

Just get a WASR. It is a Romanian akm made in the Cugir factory, imported by Century. Just get eyes on it before you take ownership to make sure nothing is wrong with it.

AK files will set you straight regarding what to look for.

some years ago I bought a Yugo M70 underfolder through Century. The Yugo's and Chinese use 1.5mm steel on the receivers. The iron sights looked canted to me but shot straight at 100. been using a red dot on a ultimak rail since then. I inquired about the canted sights and Century said just try it and they were sighted in before shipping. I read that the front sight can be corrected if it needed. Good shooter though. My only other is a Norinco MAK-90 I bought in 99. Thumb hole stock and other ban features.

I really like Whitehat. They will custom anything and you can swap out the kydex to a belt mount, IWB or OWB, allowing you to change your needs without having several holsters. Highly recommend.
