Flying home (Cocoa) today. With the last couple that were bearing down on me they they turned (Irma and Matthew). I'm hoping this one follows suit.

Dorian has thrown off the mantle of the Saharan dust and is now in a moist and moistening environment. Sea surface temperatures are running 29C, or around 84F, which is prime for intensification.

There is an area of slightly stronger wind shear to the northwest of the hurricane, lying in its path, so that may temper intensification a bit for the next 24 hours, but shear is generally expected to relax as the hurricane moves northwest and then westward. The hurricane is expected to remain near an upper level anticyclone that will travel westward with it, so steady intensification is likely.

Dorian is expected to become a major hurricane with max winds of 115 mph by Friday afternoon. It could have top winds of 125 mph when it makes landfall on Sunday, most likely on the east coast of Florida. But we caution that everyone along the East Coast of Florida and the Bahamas should be going through their hurricane plans now since it is yet unclear where the hurricane’s impacts will be felt and how. Residents are far north as Charleston, South Carolina and as far south as the Florida Keys should be monitoring the hurricane closely.

We’re fucked. I was dealing with the Viking last night and when we were done we went in to the bar.
Buddy of ours is a hurricane hunter. Flies the C130’s into them. He just came back from flying this one. Pretty much the guy I’m going to trust.
Basically told us don’t buy what they are saying right now. This ones going to be a Cat 4 at least.
    That was last night.

My personal weather reading skills aren’t quit Weather Underground but I’ve seen a few of these and looking at winds I am guessing it’s going to land pretty much straight east of Orlando, Palm Bay Area for the eye, +/- north or south.

I have to stay here for work, luckily my buddies house is a bunker with a big generator so I’m set.

    Batten down the hatches boys.

If this follows the Euro path Miami is in the bullseye but I am thinking Melbourne/Palm Bay/Cocoa Beach is going to get hammered....

If they took all the big ships...carriers, barges, and shit like that, and parked them way off the coast of FL with monster size jet engine type fans on them they could maybe blow this mother fucker back out in the ocean.

Even better idea! Go to South Africa...only place you can get Quaaludes, and score a few ton of them. Fly over in a few C130's and drop the Ludes into the storm.

It would be so chilled and mellow it would loose all interest in fucking us up.

Probably should have waited till Friday to post this.

We'll just create a new holiday for ya, "terrible thought Thursday".

But still, it's a better idea than, "can we just nuke it clear?".

Hurricane force winds usually only extend out about 40-50 miles from the eye and tropical storm force winds maybe 75 miles. If it hits Miami, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Cocoa Beach will be just fine.
