Squeaking brakes

Hey I was wondering if anyone can give me some help or advice. My 08 Tacoma DC has squeaky brakes when I'm coming to a stop the softer I press them the more noise they make, the dealership can't seem to find anything or they're just not really looking all thy did was "clean" them once but the next day it was doing the same thing.I bought the truck new and only have put 10,000 miles on it. Any help would be great.

As far as the squeaky brakes, do they do in reverse at all? If so there is a brake TSB which will will fix the brake squeak. TSB BR005R-07 SEP 07.
I had it done to my truck and it fixed it.

 

how much did the TSB cost?

nah it isnt i got a salvaged truck so no warranty

 

I just replaced my brake pads and they said at NAPA that there are certain types of pads that will squeak even though nothing is wrong w them. Lets just say i bought the ones that didnt

 

Put anti-squeal compound on the back of the pads and anywhere there is metal sliding on metal. Obviously, don't put any on the friction surfaces. Put some on the rotor where it meets the hub. Use a light coat of compound.

 

No, the OPs Taco is under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and make them fix it under the TSB or what ever.

 

Just spray the rotors with WD40, that will make them stop squeaking.

 

Do your rotors look glazed?

 

Keep on the dealer! This is not normal. Next step for the dealer would be to replace the pads, then either resurface the rotor or replace them. If that doesn't fix it, I'd suspect something in the caliper. If you're under warranty keep on them.....

 

x2, they will do the brakes under warranty, especially since you have a legit complaint. Just make sure to take a drive with your service writer and reproduce the noise.

 

great thread, guys. I bought an extended warranty for mine, and would have tried to address this on my own. Good to know this should be covered.

It's embarrassing to pull up to a stop light at a pedestrian crossing and get looks not because of the truck, but because of the brakes.

 

Also , dont forget to lube your bolts holding the calipers on as well.

 

during my routine maintenance for my warranty, I mentioned this to the tech. He told me "It's a Toyota thing. All the brakes squeak a little." I told him that was my fourth Tacoma and none have ever squeaked, and he just shrugged. My only squeek in forward gear, and only between 0-5 mph, though. So at stoplights when people are checking out my truck.

 

I have issue with squealing brakes in reverse. It started around 4000 miles after having my rotors resurfaced and brake pads replaced. I inspected the rotors, brake pads, and did a thorough cleaning of in the front discs. I didn't check the drums, but does anyone else have this issue?

 

Hi, I have been reading this forum, but am new to posting to it.

My Brakes were recently changed and they squeak (HORRIBLY) when reversing out of my driveway in the morning. Its so loud that people inside the house can hear it, I would equate it to be about as loud as a car horn. I also spoke to the dealership and they said it happens to all Tacoma's. I find that hard to believe since I have been driving various tacoma's since 1990 and this is the first one that has done this. Its a 2013 Access Cab

I need to find out if this is just normal and i just accept it (which actually means I have to park backwards in the drive way so I dont have to back out of it in the morning to avoid waking everyone up when I leave) or if I keep pushing the dealership (which means I may need help from people in this group to arm myself with data) to make them fix this.

I am interested to see if anyone else has info on this.

Id change the rotors and pads...squeaky brakes are annoying.
