But on a serious note, I hate how long the hill assist holds. Using a hand brake I release a lot sooner, the hill assist holds too long.

It's only a couple seconds in the 2019, just saying. Nice to have when towing and it does reduce clutch/brake wear.

I have had my truck 2 years. I don't regret the manual at all. I would have regretted an auto. Best improvement I made to the truck is the Underdog Racing Development short shifter.

Where I am, there is low demand for manual transmission trucks. I was offered $29k trade value for my 18 month old truck. So if resale is a consideration, buy an auto. For Canadians, manual trucks do not come with TPMS (or at least mine didn't) which means they are not exportable to USA. You really want to be in a position to be able to do that, it is worth 20% due to currency difference.

Sports MTs have it as do the all ATs. The AT version works very differently.

The Sport MT has it, the OR and Pro do not.

Not at all. 3 kids, activities, OCD about having literally no keys in my pocket, no key to put in ignition, touch the handle and walk in. I was willing to give up a remote start even though temperatures get to -20 here in the winter. Didn't think I would like push button, but can't stand it without. Currently also have a long bed which has been very handy for dump runs, 5 kayaks, 3 dirtbikes (one smaller 110). I may have to deal with it or go the f150 route. 3.5 eco is a beast and gets a combined milage of what I get now, and better on the highway above 55 mph. If I do go that route it will be used. If I go another tacoma it will be new. 1st 2 or 3 three years the f150 takes a huge depreciation hit. But, powerful fuel efficient engine, cooled seat for the fellas, locker, full size seats, adjustable pedals, etc. Tacoma may get all this in 10 years. Don't get me wrong love my tacoma, but this sill rust is unacceptable. Not a spot of rust on the frame and winter salt is brutal here.

OP, this thread is only at 4 pages.

I note this because this is Tacoma World - specifically the Third Gen Subforum of Tacoma World. This means that by Monday this will have ballooned to 34 pages of gibberish.

It's only a matter time before this thread completely devolves. Think of any and all threads in this subform as ticking time bombs.

You will know the exact moment that happens. It will be when some twat chimes in that the manual transmission in the third gen somehow led to carpal tunnel syndrome in their right wrist or that it caused chondromalacia patellae of their left knee.

Thanks. You and shakerhood replied simultaneously. All I have ever driven my entire life are MT cars (well OK a few rentals, wife's cars, etc), so when I wanted a medium sized good 4x4 truck, I know I was in love....6 speed MT? Sign me up!! Oh heck yes........take mah money :kona::spending::D

Not sure about used Tacoma's but new manual Tacoma's are about $2,000 cheaper then the same truck in auto.

I was confused by the people posting that they did not have hill hold, mine has it. At the time I was ordering, I found it frustrating to figure out the weird feature combinations, which are not intuitive. I started making a spreadsheet but I quickly discovered if I wanted a manual transmission, there was only one model.

Strange that I could not order the exact truck I wanted, considering it was a factory order. Other car companies like VW in Germany, do this all day long.

    Lots of sail boat fuel

You do know that pushing a button on a key is a heck of a lot less of a hassle than bringing an F-150 to the dealer a dozen times to have the warranties done, right?

Good luck. Bottom line is it's your money so make sure you get what you want the first time so you don't have buyers remorse. You're the only one you need to satisfy.
