Pioneer AVH-4200DVD installed!

The 4200 installed went flawlessly, in my 2010 TRD DC. I absolutely love the 4200. My initial intention was to purchase the 3200BT, mainly for the bluetooth. But instead I bought a Jabra Cruiser with a FM transmitter. It's ok, and should hold me over until I buy a BTB200. Anyway, I used the Scosche kit. Fits perfect and solid as a rock.

 

Looks Good! How was the install? I got a deal on an older nav pioneer f700bt and will be installing it soon. I bought the scosche kit too. Just waiting for Mr UPS to ring my doorbell.

 

Thanks Bro! The install went great. I copy and pasted the promotional code and Amazon shipped the Pioneer & Scosche kit in three days, for $374 out the door. During the install, the only problem I ran into was getting the damn clock out the factory din. Make sure you use a strip of masking tape under the a/c controls, so you don't scatch anything when popping the controls loose.

I did use the factory metal brackets. Finally, don't forget to transfer the yellow plastic u-clips from the factory din to the Scosche. I think there's about five of them. The entire install took about one hour.

 

Did the color of your Scosche kit better match the color of your hazard button, or the vent trim? Yours looks more silver in the pics while mine ended up almost a dead match of the hazard button.

 

I think it matched up fine. Maybe it's the camera flash being directly in front of din. Compare the top right or left corners of the din to the a/c vents; the match is perfect.

 

What about the steering wheel controls? What did you go with for those? I'm looking at doing the AVH-3200DVD myself and would really like to find an easy solution for the wheel controls. I'm looking at this:

What harness did you go with, if any? Was it able to just plug right in? (Sorry for the 1000 questions, I've never installed a deck before and kind of nervous)

 

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I used the Scosche kit. You'll have to order the hu harness seperately. The Scosche kit costs about $20 and the harness cost about $6. I elected to not utilize the steering wheel controls, since I bought the wireless remote (CDR-55), for about $10 on Ebay. . Plus it's a lot cheaper than the PAC-SWI module. Good luck on your install.

 

Not a problem man. I think I'm going to go with the Scosche myself and will be trying out the Metra ASWC for the wheel controls. I did end up picking up the 4200DVD also.

Just need to start with an alarm first. Going with the Viper Responder 350 I believe.

 

for steering wheel controls u need a module. easy to find on ebay..

That explains it! I wanted to use the factory metal brackets but didn't because they didn't attach to the Scosche din kit. This left the din kit loose so I opted for the plastic Scosche brackets. Never thought about using the yellow clips which would have held it in place. Guess I have a new project for the weekend.

the other 2 plugged into the wiring harness i got but there's these 2 extra ones. everything seems to work fine with them not connected to anything. oh and i have a 2010 xrunner.

 

Anybody try using pandora via iPhone with this head unit? I'm looking for a DVD receiver that can do this.

 

You can listen to pandora through any headunit with any phone through an aux jack lol

 

Sweet Truck! I am also looking into buying this unit. Quick question, does it charge the device when plugged into USB? I think, I read somewhere it didn't. thanks in advance.

 

It charges my ipod just fine...I'll pop it out when I get to work so I can keep listening to the music and it's always fully charged.

 

I can't get my 4200DVD to playback video from my iphone. It will playback dvd video fine. I can hear the audio from my iphone movie, just can't see the video. Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I'm using the IU200V cable.

 

How does the black trim fit around the HU? The bottom of mine wouldn't set in the grooves and it would rattle.

 

I just pushed mine in a little deeper and now it doesn't rattle

 

Use a small strip of double side tape.
