So... my day job is driving a roll off container truck. Since the hurricane I've hauled a lot of destroyed cool stuff to the landfill. Saw this on top of a dumpster today.

My dad was an Allison fan... he'd have loved it.

Davey would have gave Dale Senior some competition for most popular and on the track .

It’s going to be ridiculously humid. I’m hoping the rain holds off Sunday night. We’re arriving around noon Saturday for qualifying.

I'd be totally down with the DoT car if it was #46. Cup cars have changed numbers for special occasions plenty of times in the past. Hendrick even did it for an entire season once (Bud #25 to #50). A real deep dive into obscure throwbacks would be if they ran the original Rainbow Warrior scheme that Jeff was supposed to have, rather than the #24:

Rick Ware just knocked it all out of the park with their Lennie Pond throwback. Winner winner, chicken dinner right here:

I'm digging the Hamlin DW early 90s throwback myself.

Why? Aside from "back in the old days" mentality what legitimate reason will V6 racing be worse to watch than V8?

With today's tech, it doesn't take a 351 CI V8 to make all that horsepower. An engineer can do it with smaller engines. If Jack Rousch could tune a 302 to run as hard and fast as a 351 in 1989, then surely modern auto engineers can tune a 4.0 to go as hard. Look at INDYCAR. They swapped to V6 turbos and the cars are going just as fast as their V8 predecessors. It's coming... sooner than later.

I agree and I think it's a great step forward. I can't stand when people are against progression, "back in my day it was so much better."

We've been out here since 3:30. Met Byron, Keselowski, Blaney, Logano. My kid hung with Delana Harvick while waiting to meet the drivers. Mike Helton and Rick Hendrick strolled by, too. Pit road was a fun experience for the kiddo. The rain was not fun. Thankfully, we’re staying nearby. We snuck out and chilled in our room until 9:30.

Blaney’s car goes away bad after 20 laps.
    Almirola’s car is junk.
Hendrick is really gaining speed this season.
Ryan Preece is one to watch.
    Larson is my dark horse.
    Brad is my obvious pick.
