    Yes.

The whole point of this mod is to have the outlet hot all the time. You can either leave the charger unplugged slighly, or plug in to the cig lighter outlet (as opposed to the 2 power outlets).

But if you drive it daily, or even weekly, that won’t be anywhere near enough drain to kill the battery.

Mine is a dedicated trail rig as well, and sometimes sits for several weeks at a time. I’ve had this mod for over 10 years and it has never caused my battery to go dead. Just unplug your charger if it is going to sit for a while if that worries you.

Parasitic drain from your ecu probably drains more juice than the LED light.

I may have misunderstood you. Are you talking about that the 12v socket (installed in the console) itself has a light on it? I have a charger that has a light on it and was envisioning that (and why I said "just unplug it" lol).

If that's the case, that does change things *slightly*. I have certainly left my charger plugged in for a while, and the LED light has so little drain, that it didn't kill the battery.

So, I guess you could consider a switch. Do the mod, then install a 12v switch next to the plugs so you can turn it off when you know it'll sit for a while.

The other thing is if it's going to sit for a while, you should put the truck on a trickle charge, anyway...

One of the nicest things about this mod though, is it is NOT permanent. You can always just reinstall the relay. I still have my relay rattling around in my glove box, lol.

ah ok! So the actual cigarette lighter is untouched. its the ACC (I think that what they are called, the bottom two plugs) that I had replaced with the usb ports. Those light up when the truck is on. I do drive the truck once a week for sure. F*** that crv, its just a commuter..lol. Weekends I bring the beast out. I think I'll give it a go.

    Thanks for your help man

I'd have to look at my rig to confirm, but I'm like 90% sure the cig lighter is untouched by the mod. It's just the 12v acc plugs.

    Enjoy!

To keep dust and dirt out of the jumped relay you can also take the relay apart and jump the circuit inside.
