    So I've been thinking about a bed rack that does the same thing as the trailer but what I'm wondering is if you usage to have the full weight rating at each corner or if you split it in 4. Example 500lbs at each corner for 500lb rating or 125lbs at each corner.

    I made a similar rack, only with gas struts instead of electric. I divided the total weight by 4 to size the struts and it works great. But I don't rely on the strut to hold the tent up when occupied, I lock the rack up or down and the struts just help transition between the two.

    Awesome that's what I was hoping to hear. Are you locking them with a pass thru bolt or something like that?

    Yes, just single shear since the tubes are 1.5" wide. I picked up threaded nobs from the hardware store and welded a nut to the outer tube, but you could also use the fancy spring loaded pins used on swing-outs and such. They're just more expensive and require more precision to work smoothly.
