I lived through the 94 construction in Indiana and the Dan Ryan. one thing to say is at least traffic moves here. As compared to a normal day on the Kennedy where you just sit and sit and sit. then after 20 minutes you move and there was nothing that was blocking it, no accident, no cops, maybe a shoe

I miss my New York weather. I love the seasons, especially the cold and snow. I'm a freak.

well thats promising. i really dont understand why the traffic sucks so much....well, obviously too many people. then you get one yahoo that hits his brakes and it causes a 4 hour chain reaction.

depending on where I am working i can take the kennedy or edens usually. 294 seems to always move when im on it. you must have just missed the north south construction then. they decide to re-surface the entire edens expressway (it needed it in some spots) which started last winter with concrete patching and just about finished up now with 3 layers of asphalt on top. its not even that smooth.

at the same time they decided to tear up 294/94 from the WI state line all the way to 90. i think they are adding lanes or something, who knows. its a mess and that started like 2 years ago. then they decide to do some work on 53 as well just to really fuck anyone that has to travel north/south ever. its unbelievable. there are only 3 routes north/south, and they are all under construction at the same time.

and you want the worst expressway- the 290/eisonhower. what the hell is with that thing. i used to date a girl in oak park, about 10 mins from the city. it would take 40 mins by the time i left work, which was still pretty early....in the mornings i could get to work in 10 mins though

and you are totally right about a shoe in the road totally screwing up traffic....but if it were a cop or flat tire, forget it. hope you have a full tank of gas and time to spare. last couple years the 90/94 was backing up northbound as soon as you got on at ontario street. its unbelievable.

    now im all pissed off.

i didn't mean to start any war it was just a little joke...and then people started misrepresenting norcal when roy needed to know true facts...oh well, i'm glad the war ended when i went to work :)

hey roy when i asked my boyfriend he said 45? whatever that means, i'm guessing his union foreman get paid 45 an hour...not sure but hopefully you know what he means. if you work in san francisco they get paid really good.

and my mom says she's paying 1.21 of the value per year.

i live in the central valley which is right in the middle of cali and is perfect because i have access to the bay area, the mountains, the coast ,the desert, many lakes....etc. it is about an hour from sac, 5 hours from LA and rent is not too bad. being that you are an electrician you should know that the unions arent very strong in so cal because there is a lot of competition from all the people coming from mexico that will work for almost nothing. the union is much stronger in nor cal and especially in the bay area and sacramento. i am a union carpenter and i know many union electricians that never have to worry about finding work

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Cali BLOWS!! I can't wait until the place either burns down or breaks off of the US. Of course I do live in the middle of the desert so I might be a the wrong one to ask!

It all depends where you live. I prefer the northern California coast. Cool year round temperatures, RAIN, beautiful scenery. :)
