TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

TW internets, i need help. i have a Speedhut AFR gauge the Innovate LC-2. the Innovate has been connected to a boost gauge for over a year and i finally got around to running the O2 sensor lead through the firewall so now i have this:




i went to the muffler shop to weld on the bung thinking i would be reading AFR in no time only to find out the first cat is pretty much snugged up right against the header. question: has anyone welded a bung on an OEM exhaust setup or do i need to get custom cat-back piping in order to get my sensor in there? i have a 2012 DC. thanks!

i had the jba long tube headers and could never get them to seal right with their strange design to mount to the cylinder head

 

I originally put bungs in both stock headers. I had to remove the headers to actually drill the holes and then weld the bungs on. You have to be very careful where you put the bungs and make sure there is enough clearance for the sensor to stick out.

Much easier to just mount the sensor somewhere down stream.

 

No worries I'm expecting one from either urd, summit, superchargers online, etc for a labor day or this coming black Friday.

 

muffler shop said they could install in the header but I thought the reading may get messed up. LC-2 instructions say to install before the cat and at least 24 inches downstream of the exhaust port outlet.

so I can install after the 1st cat but before the 2nd?

 

I welded a bung into the stock header. It’s double wall tube, but it worked well

Going by the innovate 24” measurement, you’re landing somewhere on the y-pipe. Yes, after the cat the reading will be skewed somewhat, it will read a bit leaner than actual but it is still useful data.

Way back when pic. A bit close to the exhaust port if innovates 24” recommendation is observed, but they worked fine.

 

make sure the block off o2 plugs in the headers are on tight. I had a leak there too.

 

I haven't seen them cross reference in part compatible manner. find a toyota guy locally and see if the plug matches up.

 

I did on my factory y-pipe right at the merge. worked fine.

 

If I were starting over from the beginning knowing what I know now, I’d have done the same.

 

had I not had guys like you to learn by I may have put it by the muffler.

 

Well I’m using a 76mm off a 4.7 tundra right now. I know how much you guys like that TB.

We joke about it, but it would actually work fine there. You’d need a long ass cable though!
