and totally went another direction from the one i was headed.:D

    found this today.............

remington model 700 sps buckmasters, with a 3x9x40 nikon prostaff scope........in 30.06 springfield.

couldnt pass the deal up. no...it doesnt have the accu-trigger or whatever it is remington is calling it, but it should work fine as is. this is my first 30.06 as well. i added the quake sling to it when i got home, so now i gotta pick out some ammo and zero it in.

for any of ya'll with a 30.06.....what grain bullet ya'll like using. with my old .270....it was either 130 or 150 grain.....but there are quite a few different ones for the 30.06. im thinking probably a 150 grain federal or winchester silver tip.

I have a browning A-bolt in 30-06, and for whitetails I normally shoot a 165 grain sometimes a 180 depending on where I am hunting.

    back to bone stock.
an '06 is too similar to a .270..as far as target game animals. you would need to go bigger or smaller..in my opinion for a second rifle.

i love mine. for ammo. i use 165 gr ballistic tips for just about everything. for elk, i knocked one down with the 180 gr ballistic tip.

for shooting cute little clover shaped holes..165 sierra game kings. pushed with reloader 19. my rifle loves that food!

you douche!!! i was looking at a 700 online last week. want something w/ a lil more kick than my .270. what sucks though is hunting on base here, you cant shoot a rifle, only a shotty or a bow. got both, but i'd rather shoot a rifle. got a leupold 3x9x50 on the .270:drool: great scope, eventhough it's almost 10-12 years old.

nice rifle will, i have an 700 SPS in .308 and it's a great rifle. i kind of wish i had either gotten a .270 or a .30-06 now though. i didn't do enough research before i jumped on the .308 but o well, maybe i'll find someone who wants to buy it or i'll just have to buy another gun...

Sucks that I can't use one of these for deer season up here in VA, or I would have one in the safe by now!
