Harbour Frieght 2 Pronged Pick Up Tool. You'd be surprised how many times and different situations you'd use this thing. Long reach, flexible and inexpensive. Handy son of a gun to have in your tool box. $2.79
Don't remember where I got mine. I've had it for....... well for a long time! Mine is 4 pronged and not magnetic. Last time I used it I fished a stainless steel screw from my beard trimmer the size of a BB out of the bathroom sink drain. First time you use it you'll wonder why you never had one sooner. Amazon has them as well only 4 pronged and more expensive but we'll worth the money. Search "Mechanics Claw."

I grounded one wire to the body with one of the screws that was present and tapped a black wire in the rear tail light on the middle light. Figured it was a ground wire so I tapped into the first blue wire. That didn't work either since I didn't even get the splice to connect. I gave up since it was getting late.

 

Day at the lake swimming and some early morning kayaking with the wife.

Those things can be a life saver. Had one after my last back surgery and worked great to pull up my pants and put on socks!

 

I put the "proper" MT shift shaft grommet on. Looks right and proper now. Hillman PN 881257 is the ticket. Snug on the shaft and the wider groove accommodates the locking keys on the plastic trim ring. Feels and looks right. I tried it with correct ID/OD diameter grommet, yet less tall, i.e. thinner groove and that really did not work. Happy with my Lithuania shift knob now!
