There's a build thread of a 4bt swap around here somewhere...

By the looks of the truck, I'm going to take a guess his name is Cletus, or maybe Dale.

His name is Chase, so I wasn't too far off, lol :D

"built right" is subjective. Obviously he uses high end parts and this isn't a cheap build, this is still a very southern red-necky "no replacement for displacement" type truck. This beast wouldn't fit on 90% of the trails I drive.

My little Tacoma on 32's is also very much a red-necky type truck, but more in the "most of my stuff is homemade and my welds look like shit" kinda way.

Doesnt have to fit anywhere but the mud pit on Friday nights.

OP, besides the cummins sticker on the back glass, the "Id rather be cummin than strokin" banner is a requirement across the windshield. Also, your IG handle slapped on every piece of glass.

But seriously, that is not a go fast motor. LS would be your best bet. Theres a dude on Youtube swapping one into a 5 lug right now. Well planned and thought out. But it looks to be a bear to fit in a 4x4 if its even possible.

    It's quite possible.

I'm over in Carmichael, and work at Sac State so we probably haven't crossed paths on the commute at least, lol

I do have a 4bt in my truck and it’s about to run in the chassis. Been along process and haven’t done much to the truck lately but it’s time to get back into it so I’ll have much more info and hopefully a first start video to upload on my thread shortly.

As for being easy to swap it’s really not hard if you have some fabrication skills but it’s just time consuming.
The truck can be fast with a 4bt but lots of engine upgrades need to be done for that to happen. After the truck moves I’ll be shooting for a goal of 3-400hp but more importantly my goal over anything is 7-800ft lbs of torque.

a slightly built 4bt cummins would very much make a little Tacoma a quick truck as long as it had the proper running gear to handle the torque. those that say diesel engines are slow need to step out of the Toyota world for a minute. street driven 10-12 second full size diesel trucks are very common now days.

Good way to put it. My current full size ram 3500 is alittle over 500hp with pretty basic modifications.
My last truck was 600+ and in 4wd would keep up or beat pretty much any car on the street.
The 4bt is meant to be an industrial application and or push a 10000+lb vehicle. When taking it from that to a vehicle in the 5000lb range in stock form they are still pretty quick.

My duramax was a little on the wild side with just under 1000 hp sitting on 37" toyo mt's and would blow the doors off most anything I put it up against. The 4BT is capable of being built up to 350-450 hp and 800+ ftlb torque with a few bolt ons and tuning.
