Fortunately the latest updates in the past 24 hours are showing it makes a hard right turn before landfall in FL. This is a HUGE benefit as the worst part of the storm (northeast quadrant) stays out at sea and nobody gets hit with it. A far different path than just early Friday.

I'm just glad to be on the left side of the hurricane again. Matthew wasn't too bad except for trees littered all over 95 and they cleared most of that up here in Georgia. Irma caused my house to flood and Dorian had the same potential, until these new models came out showing it over the Atlantic when it passes by me.

Man I feel for you guys, keep safe! I had my first real hurricane experience with hurricane Sandy. My wife and I were renting from my dad living at my childhood home on the water in NJ, pretty much right on the bay/ocean. Thank god we decided to leave before the storm hit. We were going to go to my dads other house in DE but my mom’s was closer, so we went there. All the years the weather people always hyped stuff up and we never gotten anything, but wow did we get wrecked this time. In the long run it really worked out for us. We stayed at my moms for a year and banked tons of money as she didn’t charge us rent, just split food and electric bill. We ended up buying our home a year after.

On a side note I just couldn’t believe the aftermath, I’ve never seen anything like it. Boats in the middle of the road, the homes destroyed, my old car had water up into the glove box. It was a real eye opener. Here’s a screen shot of where my dads house was we were staying in. Our current home is only about a 3 min drive from there. He still owns it but hasn’t fully remodeled it yet. A lot of work.

Well i'm glad it looks like it's staying out in the Altantic and it's not a direct hit on us in FL. Hoping it keeps going into the Atlantic and no one in Georgia or the Carolina's gets hit either :fingerscrossed:

If you have a leaking rear diff or the diff howl or the transmission shifts funny this might be your chance at a great insurance claim. Hell, even if you don't like the outdated headlights or the fact that you don't have an electric adjustable seat, park your Taco in the path of the storm and sit back and grin. 2020's will be here just in time.

    Mob mentality?

About the same as when I lived in Cincinnati, and there was a chance of significant snow.

Try to find a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread.

I moved to Florida in 2001. I've always kept around a months worth of canned food and water on hand year round.

I did fill 6 cans of gas Wed night, and put my storm panels up Thursday after I finished walking behind and riding my grass cutting machines.

You just reminded me that I should buy more .300 blackout ammo.

    Thanks.

I have some family in St. Pete and most Floridians are hardcore with hurricanes. I don't know how you guys do it, they would terrify me being a Utahn. Stay safe you guys.

People waiting until the last minute for water and non-perishables always blows my mind. Stock your supplies before the season and then you can sit tight when/if a storm comes. Stock up right and you really don't have to do much year-to-year even.

As soon as the storm looked like it was headed my way, we topped off the cars and picked up a gallon of milk for the baby. Done.

Having lived in Florida, on & off for 40+ years; my family always followed a routine when grocery shopping: if the grocery list called for 4 cans of beans, we'd buy 6--with 2 cans going towards the storm pantry. Everything was rotated, and never got stale or out of date; and with making it a routine, we were always stocked up, and we never had to rush out at the last minute.

I don't live in Florida now, but I still do this. At any one time, I have ~3 months of food & supplies stocked.

Hope this storm passes quickly & as painlessly as possible.

I keep enough canned food and water to last about a month year round. I did have to fill up all my gas cans, but I did that Wed.

Only thing I had to buy was candy. I would have paid $50 for a fucking candy bar during Irma.

Yeah, the stores have been picked clean around myself. Kind of irritating because I go shopping once a week and since everyone freaked out my usual items on my list have been bought out... Can I buy bread? Sure, cheap no-name brand. Can I buy my water I bring to work? Nope, but they've got plenty of distilled water that's technically not healthy to drink. I've got everything I need for a hurricane, I just want to do my normal shopping but it's like 500 people won a shopping spree and bought out everything...

Nice to see other folks who are open minded enough to have an AK and AR.

"Move to St. Augustine, we never get hurricanes" quote from my realtor 5 years and 2 hurricanes ago.

Looks like we might get lucky with this one. Thats not stopping the idiots from being out in force. Topped off supplies and fuel on Wednesday, no way you could get me near a grocery store now. Made hotel reservations if we need to evacuate, just sitting back and watching it come in now.

Actually installed a hoist in my garage for fishing kayak today. Good to clear up some floor space, might actually get the truck in the garage.

Boise state won today against Florida State. Loserz.
On a serious note, stay safe and ready. Praying for Florida tonight, God bless.

I lived in St. Augustine from 2001 to 2005 on Anastasia Island on the corner of A1A and Tropic Way. In 04 and 05 we got the out skirts of hurricanes, what seemed like every other week.

I'm only around 20 miles south of you now.

This area hasn't had a direct hit since 1963...I think it was Dora.

St. Augustine still gets flooded bad. I've got a friend that lives on the ICW up there. They had 3 foot of water in their house with Mathew. Had to gut the entire house, and was just getting it finished up when Irma hit. They only got about an inch of water that time.

    Hard to have just one!

I'm really wanting a AK with the folding spike bayonet, but what people want for them is crazy.

I've got an embarrassing amount of "normal" guns, and I'd be afraid to try and count my ammo.

Rather than “I am prepared to help out anyone in need”, it’s “I’m gonna shoot me some looters”.

That about sums up what is wrong with these times.

    -Likelihood of looters: 2.3%
-Looter execution preparedness: 110% fuck ya!

-Likelihood of people in need: 94.7%
-Likelihood of helping people in need: 6.9% (fuck ‘em).
