I read in one of the threads (can't find it now) that you can take one of the shims out and it will close tighter. I just got done doing this to the front panel. I also added some foam strips to the rubber plugs. I don't see any daylight coming though now. You will have to push down on the front latch to get the second click, same as you have to do to the back latches.

Mine has little leaking. Meaning I can drive in rain and my stuff will stay dry of it is not on the side of the bed where the water channels through. Actually pretty happy with it.

It says in the owners manual that the covers are not watertight.

This is the thread that I was looking for. I just got a 2020 TRD off road that came with the hard tri-fold cover. I don't think it's leaking from the rain, I think it's coming up from the wheels. There's tons of mud inside the bed from even a short drive off road yesterday. The first time I went through mud, there was a large build up of mud in the bed. I'm going to look at the thread on fixing the leaks. I bought my 09 used with an aftermarket cover and through several years in Washington and upstate NY, I've never had any concern for anything I had in the bed, now I'm worried about whatever I put back there. I'm also worried about salt in upstate NY getting in there as well, since it appears to be coming up from the road.

I've had an OEM hard tonneau cover on my 2018 since new and never experienced any water or mud into the bed like your picture and I've done a fair amount of off roading and wheeling during the rain. That area (pictured) is not where water leaks through for most which usually occurs in the 2 corners of bed nearest the cab. You may want to disassemble the topside of the bedside to see where the leak is occurring and apply a strip of silicone. Not sure if others have more experience or suggestions. Good luck.

My '18 TRD Sport OEM cover leaks very little as well. Below is morning after about 8 hours of steady rain.

@Clandestinewoodwork , mud flaps might help a bit. My bed looked similar to how yours does but I traded the factory tonneau for a shell a couple months after I got the truck. Snow was knocking out the BSM system consistently so I mounted rek gen mud flaps front & rear. Problem solved. Flaps may not solve your problem but I'm sure they'll help considerably.

My 2017 leaks a tiny bit, but even in rain, not enough to be concerned about. I actually crawled inside and can’t see too much light squeezing in. Overall, I love the factory folding cover. Guess others do also as I had a guy try to give me $750 cash in a highway rest area recently. I’m keeping it.

Can I leave the cover folded back and let it rain on the underside of it? I’m trying to clean the fish blood out of the bed tonight while it rains.

I don't see why not. The underside is the exact same material so exposing the frame is the only difference & it's painted. You should be good.

1taco2motos, I actually stopped by the dealership this morning and asked about it. He tried to tell me about the cover not being waterproof and I had to explain that its coming in from underneath and showed the gravel that's caught in there. He said he's going to ask higher, but I don't have high expectations. I'm going to contact the dealership that I used to work for and ask them.

Mine was leaking from the back for a bit. Drove me nuts, couldn't figure it out. Then i realized that the tonneau cover "legs" were hitting the moveable anchor points, not letting the cover sit all the way flush. I adjusted the position of the tonneau cover legs and my leak went away.

I've noticed with my camper that if I park at an angle, water will run underneath the rail caps and cause a leak through the holes for the tonneau. Maybe that is going on here?

Been 4 1/2 months, so far no leaking here. Been pelted by some nickel size hail stones at one time, was really worried i'd be seeing some damage, but all is good.
