Thought I would drop in here real quick and let @MQQSE and everyone know that I talked to my Brother in Alaska this morning and they got the electricity restored last night! so as soon as they get the smoke damage out of the house and a pump house built they will be able to stay in the house this Winter and start rebuilding everything that they have lost outside. Insurance is helping some but will not cover as much as He thought. Be Safe everyone....

Good to read this. Insurance never seems to add up the way one expects...but I'll abort that rant. Happy they'll recover with some elbow grease and Alaskan resilience.

He said they have learned a lot in the past two weeks so if it happens again he will be in better shape.

Somebody brought in some picnic tables and porta poties and a local place (Sheep Creek Lodge)was providing the items so My Brother and some friends have been feeding the FireFighters when they come back to his place in between shifts.

My Brother has slipped back into Military mode and is handling everything pretty good. His Wife is having a hard time with all of it but getting the power and water back on has helped Her some.

Sheep Creek Lodge is great place owned by good people. Communities up here do seem to come together well in the face of adversity. Good on your brother and his friends for pitching in and not just being victims.

Agreed, Sheep Creek was spared by the Fire so they are helping out as much as they can. One day next Summer I will walk into that place and thank everyone. and buy Beers

I am not sure about a web site. I think it is a big hangout for the locals in Willow maybe @MQQSE could chime in on this.

I'm trying to remember for certain, but I think they sell T-shirts and the like. It's a regular stop for folks year round; locals to Willow, but also people heading north or coming back from fishing, ATVing, hunting, snowmachining, or whatever.
