Welcome to the site. I would take your truck to a trusted mechanic and describe the symptoms you feel need addressed. Take your trusted mechanic for a test drive, and point out what is troubling you. There is a lot of knowledge on this site, but until you are familiar with your truck and doing your own maintenance, I would strongly suggest a knowledgeable mechanic. Maybe if you asked on the Southwest Forum, someone could point you to a reputable mechanic, or even come help you. Good luck and please post some pictures of your new dream truck.

 :D It’s definitely the only vehicle on the road that makes me do a head turn when I see one. I get excited just to get to drive to the grocery store

gliding is no fun sometimes, ask me how i know on a slick Iowa interstate highway one winter! gliding backwards at over 60mph is not dreamyyyy!
i like the 'oneness feel' with the road in my compact truck, i borrowed my relatives 2nd gen single cab this weekend to transport a large air compressor and it was SO BIG and high off the road (even though its pure stock!) I just couldn't get a feel of the road like in my '97 I am right on top seeing over my hood

    calm down there, Kate!

Thank you!! I did take it to a shop in Santa Fe, Toyotech, who specialize in Toyota’s and they are awesome. They looked it over for a full day and balanced the tires, theyre the ones who suggested I get new tires to help with the vibes. And it did, but not with the jitters! But at that point the vibe was overpowering the jitters, so maybe it’s time to go back with a new focus. I will totally check out the SW forum — thank you so much! I am so stoked about this site and this truck.

This is literally what keeps coming into my head after reading a lot of threads... it has to be either the shocks or the steering rack bushings or both. thank you. Definitely going to get them checked this week.

my truck had a slight looseness in the steering wheel and had some polyurethane replacement bushings put on helped a little. I would also make sure the steering rack bolts and front end fasteners are not loose, you can get under the truck with a light take a look at the steering racks bushings condition they may be worn/loose

COOL!! This is super helpful. I am no mechanic but I intuitively feel like it has to be something with the steering rack, because of the play in the wheel and the way hitting a tiny bump causes the wheel to turn so easily. Going to try to get under there and look for myself :D thanks so much
