I have a question. On rare occasions, when running a bead with my M211, the bead starts off normal, normal sound and then midway through the bead the sound kinda starts changing from the normal sizzling and popping to a non popping/sizzling smoother fluid type sound. Any ideas what causes this? The bead still lays down good and hot, but the puddle seems to be not as uniform as the beginning.

You may be lifting the nozzle farther away from the puddle as you travel

It could be many things .

Does it seem to happen only after the welder gets hot??

Bending the gun putting pressure on the wire but not enough to completely cause it to stop .

The shielding gas mixture is changing as it is pulled out of the cylinder .

Someone turned up the AC so the input power dropped enough to notice .

Who knows what cooking out of the base metal.

    I could keep going .

Look at the position of the gun when it happens.

When was the last liner installed ??

I just replaced the liner. I'm going to try and shorten my extension cord that is supplying power to the welder. That's interesting about the gas mixture because this never happens when I run 100% co2.

I doubt it's the liner.. it may need to be cleaned though.

I run acitone down my liners on occasion. It looks pretty nasty as it flows out the end. Once dry, there is no fire hazard.

    This is just a FYI.
These are Nupla dead blow hammers. I find them to be awesome. The one and 2 pound versions have a soft blow face and a steel face. I like them so much I have a full set for the shop, my home shop and my mobile setup, 1,2,3 and 4 pound.
You can find them on Amazon, but the one pound with one steel face can be harder to come by.
Anyway, awesome tools that I use daily and feel is excellent bang for the buck.

"Day off" is subjective. LOL I usually do more work around the house whenever I'm off than when I actually am "at work".

Looks like I found the culprit. It was the torch gas nozzle. The old one was faulty wasn't making a good seal and was also allowing the contact tip to protrude outside of the nozzle, like the stop inside was not there. Changed to a new one and it lays a consistent bead now.

A few practice beads to make sure it was the nozzle. I had no idea the nozzle made that much of a difference. I also wanted to practice pushing instead of always pulling.

Speaking of "labor day" activities.. Decided to make 3 passes, one each side the one gap filler.

Got out of the shop today.
Went to put together my light box things for the Toyota event. Turned out they will be hanging in a giant tent for a George straight concert for Toyota execs.
All went well, except for having to be there at 5 am. Each high beam can carry 6500 lbs. Impressive for a tent.KIMG0936.jpg

Been starting work at 5:30 for over 20 years.

They had massive semi trailer mounted AC units pumping cold air into the tent. 2 of them.
And a gaggle if large gen sets.

Love everything, but those D ring safety chains rings look so undersized compared to everything else.

    Nice, clean work.
