Is their any trick to getting this off? I have to replace all my power steering lines and this bolt has had me hung up, it’s super tight. It appears to be a 17mm but its almost inbetween a few metric and standard sizes. PITA.

Impact. If you can’t break it loose with a ratchet. Do not put it back in with an impact

This above exactly, long extension on an impact gun, then tighten by hand.

Quick update for anyone changing these lines where their a little rusty, where the pressure hose screws into the rack that screw fitting gets more or less seized to the line. I could only get mine half way out before it didnt want to go up any more, it’s loose from the rack but stuck from moving upward on the line.

I’m planning on cutting the line in the morning with a dremel with a small cutoff wheel and it should just unscrew from the rack. I plan on cutting it below the bend so I dont risk getting any metal shavings in there.

    Anyone have experience with these?

Another quick update for anyone who ends up doing this job and finding this thread. I did cut the line with a small cutoff wheel on a Dremel and then I was easily able to turn the fitting out of the rack by hand.

Also, it’s hard to tell when the fitting is in the rack but it looks like its bottomed out. Based on the rust line the fitting fully tight leaves a few threads exposed. When putting in the new line and fitting there is a couple threads exposed when fully tight. No leaks.

Same problem with mine, 2007 2.7L 2WD. Wanted to replace the rack and pinion (used), but could not unscrew flared prw steering pressure line. Had to isolate the whole line from the reservoir and remove the rack with the line attached. After few attempts got the fitting out from the rack, unscrewing the whole pressure hoe assy. Any idea how to loosen the screw that is not spinning?

How long did it take you and did you replace just the one line or both? Where did you get the parts? Thanks

What size wound up being the correct one? Save me some trouble of walking back and forth to the socket drawer. :)
