I think Tyler’s technic i kinda off. Because even with the same settings his looks way worse.

You should of saw his welds before i came though. Looked like a slug on top the metal that you an just peel off with a flat head

Yesterday our neighbor buddy pulled up in this. He bought it from a friend in Minnesota. It's originally from Saskatchewan CA. Its a Canadian version. It wasn't running when he bought it. So he drove up and fixed the oil pressure switch. He got it running and then drove it home. It has a big V8 turbo diesel on it. It has big electrically controlled captains chairs. The pedals are adjustable. You can drive this thing cross country and not get tired of the seating position. He's going to use it to pull a trailer of cars that he buys from out of state back to bring back here to his lot. The bed is rusty so I think he will put on some type of service bed. Though I didn't see any rust one the frame or springs.

I took it for a drive. Its huge but has plenty of power. People get out of your way when you're driving this damn thing.

It's the 6.0l powerstroke. I have the same truck lol. The power is craZy; I towed my Tacoma over the Rocky mountains and had no problem doing 55-65ph over the passes with plenty of power to spare. I didn't want to push the coolant or oil temps too high though so I took it easy

He said it gets decent mileage for something so big. Its had some mods done to partially remove the EGR and some minor tuning items. Its all out of my league.

and now i will head to the salvage yard where a '97 V6 regular cab awaits a full photo shoot before it is buried within the week
the pictures I will bring back will make you utterly shit your pants, at least it did to me since this truck is only a month older than mine :(

Why do you visit salvage yards if your truck is clean as fuck

Here I've got parts in a plastic bin for my 4x4 swap; manual hubs, axles, spindles, and manual diff tube.

Just need new hubs (I'll keep the old ones, rebuild them as I find parts, and either sell or keep), front diff, transfer case, transmission, and a new drive shaft (or shortening of the current one).

Only question is, what do I do with my white Prerunner tailgate, and factory lower control arms that I have no use for...

becasue very few tacoma exist here in the salvage lots and I am trying to get down to the nitty gritty with this frame rot SHIT i have never seen before since joining TW
i must be informed on what its all about! as I have many curiosities and questions that the experts i feel are NOT forthcoming about with me

plus it can give me a chance to dismember the interior parts carefully in case i need to dismember mine in the future hahah, evaporator, heater core, etc.

it seems there is one tacoma for every 50 s10 ranger dakota

Circles or the e thing can be hard to make look good repetitively when youre learning. The z or weave motion is the easiest imo. You wont get a stack of dimes usually, but either way its a clean weld.

Try a fillet weld. To me their the easiest to practice with cause you can keep stacking layers without having to grind. 9725.gif

I read a few welding textbooks and watched a few videos and majority of them said to do Cursive E's. I tried the zig-zag method Miguel was talking about but it doesn't feel right.

Many ways to skin a cat. Ive been fabricating professionally for almost 3 years now and its always been my go to method.

If youre welding up a big gap, sometimes its the only method that works when your jumping from side to side real quick.

The Z. Set your wire feed low and your heat in the middle for starting out.

It really is a great method for production welding where things dont have to look beautiful. I set my heat way higher than I should, but I set my wire feed way high to compensate. Allows me to get full penetration on 1/8" steel at real fast speeds.

I dont do much stick, but how do you not get slag entrapment with that method? When Im burning rods, Im weaving or doing a whip and pause.
