muzzle is my favorite season here. you can catch them chasing and trailing.

 

NICELY SAID, I couldnt take the bait as probably would have got the ban hammer. if they want to eat grass ,not my business ,but i eat meat and dont need a bambi lecture. if they only knew how crual nature is but its how it stays in balance. this one fed coyotes and probably didnt die fast. found it in late winter

 

that was a nice one! did you get to keep the rack?

 

yea the youngin with me got it and cooked it off for a skull mount at camp.

 

not much to look at here but heres my bear bait, I moved the barrel out away from the small tree as to get a better angle. the bottom was the before pic. Had a what I call a "light hit" mid Aug. also chopped some brush down.

 

Oh also did a small honey burn. took a torch and tin can and pour some honey in and got it smoking and I could see the smoke go down the hill couple hundred yards so I know it will carry the scent a bit further. Some say close to half a mile or more... but we'll see in the coming weeks.

 

going to try something new this year. I paid for a gate key and pass to a big chunk of land owned by a timber company. I know I won't be the only one in there but hopefully less people than the public land around here. I can also harvest firewood in there. oh and the gate is only about 30 min from my house.

 

are you going out in Rifle season or bow or both?

 

if heez , he betta be hunting with bow,rifle,shotgun,smoke stick, spear, slingshot,what ever he can legally...

 

lol ya just rifle. But hey, if I pull at least one cord of firewood out by March 30 then the key will pay for itself. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I heard you gotta have a 32" bar unless you're an east coast sissy. Let me know if you get the reference! youtube joke...

 

Checked on a small food plot I planted a week ago and it’s up and growing started a mock scrape and at least got my Summit ladder sticks on a tree . Can’t do the stand alone ( getting old ) Put 2 cameras out also !

 

I scouted a new saddle on a ridge to hunt Friday..was goin to set on the ground at it, as i cant get a stand back by my self, but my son and his bud are goin to carry a ladder stand in there for me,gotta love them youngins like that

Ladder stands here have to be well hidden unless you want someone else hunting from it . My rifle stand is a ladder with extensions so it’s at least 30’ high against a pine that you can’t get your arms around.
